Jeg limer inn en korrespondanse fra ancestry angående en mulig sørtrønder som havnet i Holland på 1700-tallet. Håper noen av leserne kan hjelpe videre.

Mu ancestor is Hans Pieterse Diepvest. When he was buried on 20 April 1754 in Holland, the Pieterse was left out of his name. When he was married, he is listed as Hans Pieterse from Dronthem, old 26 years.. In Nov, 1731, in the membership register of the Lutherian Evangelical Church in Amsterdam, Hans Pieterse is said to have originated from Dahlem. Believe it could be Trondheim in the Atlantic coast in Upper Norway. I appreciate your help. Thanks Jackie

Hello Jackie!
I believe you presumption about Trondheim is correct. Dronthem/Drontheim are older terms for it. It may just as easily refer to the amt (county) in that period, Trondhjems Amt. The Pieterse looks like it could be a patronym, perhaps a 'hollandification' of Petersen As to Dahlem, I'm a little uncertain. There is no farm by that name but it could be an older spelling of Dalum, which does exist.
I must add, however, that searching in that time period is quite difficult.
Olaf

Diepvest sounds very close to Dybfest, which is the name of some farms in the parish of Bjugn, northwest of Trondheim, across the Trondheim Fjord. Bjugn was partitioned off from Ørland parish in 1852, so in the time period you are looking, the church records for Ørland must be checked. They start in 1709. You don't indicate when he was born, so I don't know if these church records will be of help.

Jo Jostein: Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, my researcher said that his information was that Hans Pieterse Diepvest was born 1705. I also have his burial date. Do you know how I can access wills in Holland? He was buried 20 Apr. 1754 in Amsterdam, Lutheran Evangelical church. Thanks. Jackie

In 1700 a crofter called Peder Hansen (1657 - 1708 )lived at the farm Nes, - in Ørland parish at that time. (Dypfest was a part of Nes.) Peder Hansen was married and had 6 children, who were:
1. Jakob Pedersen, b.1685, married 1715 to Beret Andersdtr.. Children: Malena, b.1716; Åge, b.1734, d.15 weeks old; Kirsten, b. 1736; Ingborg, b.1740; Åge, b.1740, d.1742. Jakob Pedersen moved from Nes to Hellem (neighbouring farm)
2. Ole Pedersen, b.1686, d.1727, married to the widow Kirsten Andersdtr. No children.
3.HANS PEDERSEN, b.1695 (Hans Pieterse Diepvest?)
4. Johan Pedersen, b.1698
5. Kirsten Pedersdtr., b.1698, d.1772, married 1723 to Anders Andersen Hellem, b.1700, d.1790. Children: Kirsten, b.1724, d.1764; Anders, b.1725, d.1727; Ragnhild, b.1728; Anders, b.1730; Nikolai, b.1734, d.1735; Maren, b.1735; Nikolai, b.1737; Elias, b.1740.
6. Elling Pedersen, b. 1699, married 1728 to Gunhild Larsdtr. Nes, b.1704. Children: Peder, b.1729, d.6 months old; Lars, b.1731; Anne, b.1732.

In spite of deviation concerning the year of birth for Hans Pedersen (1695) and Hans Pieterse Diepvest (1705), a thought struck me: Is there still an identity to trace between them?

Terje
