Wanted JENSEN Family
My name is Beatrix and I was born in "La Clinique des Orangers" in
Algeria (Algers).
All the information which I have has come from an Algerian doctor who
has been able to look in the archives of the Clinic.
I know the following:
- their name is "Jensen";
- they came from northern Europe (Denmark?) ;
- I was exchanged with a stillborn baby some time between 1957 to 1959
;
My real date of birth is unknown and I do not know the date of death of
the other baby. Therefore I have been advised to extend my search to
before 1959.
My biological parents do not know that I am alive and believe that I am
dead.
Lastly, I must mention that the Algerian authorities refused access to
the registers. I don't have enough facts to contact one specific
country's embassy over another.
I hope that this explains my present internet research. I am conscious
that this way is hard, painful, long and maybe even unsuccesful, but I
want to try.
Please be kind and tell others about this advert and if you have any
information, please contact me.
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Wanted JENSEN Family
hello Beatrix,
I really can't help you, as the name Jensen is most likely to be a very
common name in Europe. I suggest you look in the census for Algers for
anyone of that name. I know how important this is to you as I have a
similar story but no name.

Re: Wanted JENSEN Family
Hello Beatrix,
If you have been born between 1957 and 1959 the records are private.
So about your birth you must not ask a list for information, but indeed the
Algerian authorities.
Nevertheless I think we must give this question a try, but there are some
things unclear in your question:
You say: their name is "Jensen";
Question: Is this the mother's name? The father's name?
You say:
they came from northern Europe (Denmark?)
Question: How do you know this? Is this mentioned somewhere?
You say:
I was exchanged with a stillborn baby some time between 1957 to 1959
Question: How do you know this? And what was the parent's name of the
stillborn baby?

Re: Wanted JENSEN Family
Hi Beatrix,
It is much easier to learn your story if you come from a small town. I
don't know my whole story yet, but one day I will visit the small town
and search the papers and the directories etc. The local historical
society is also a good place to start. It is amazing what local older
people know.

What can your parents possibly have been doing i Alger? Is the city
connected to the hospital by the ocean? What sort of industry was
dominant in this city? Was it a tourist place?
There are thousands of Jensens in Denmark and in other Nordic
countries. I think one way to approach your search would be to
think about what your parents were doing abroad.

Re: Wanted JENSEN Family
Denmark is a small country - smaller than most US states
Just as a 'mercan might holiday in Mexico or another state
in Europe we visit other countries
differences in laws and prices and climate and archeology and culture
make north africa an atractive holiday destination to this day
Algiers used to attack the danish islands and ships and take danes away
as slaves and sell them back for a ransom
a quick google found the danish composer:-
Rudolph Bays (1791-1856) papirer indeholder en autobiografi, rejseminder
og -dagbøger samt beskrivelse af en rejse fra København til Algier 1823 ...
who visited Algiers in 1823 and left us his diary about the journey
and the Royal Danish Embassy web site
http://www.ambassade.dk/dkalgeralge-da.php3
Nouakchott, Mauritania; Tripoli, Libya; Tunis, Tunisia
Address: Ambassade Royale de Danemark
12 Avenue Emile Marquis
Lot. Djenane El-Malik
16035 Hydra
Alger
Postal Address:
B.P. 384
DZ-16000 Alger Gare (Algrie)
a better site

in this thread of course
that embassy may have a birth registration with details ot the parents
