(Johan) EMIL Sørensen 2 sept. 1865?

Emil John/Johan Emil SORENSEN was born 2 Sept. 1865-67 was born in "Bergenskanten", Norway. (Every American document we have found is consistent in this birthplace.)
The 1920 census also stated Emil immigrated in 1890.
Letter of intent to become naturalized in St. Louis on 2_(?) Oct. 1894 (?), gives an "Oath he was born in Norway on or about 1867, emigrated and landed in port of N>Y> or about in the month of Sept. 1891". His last name of Sorensen was written over. His character witness was A.A. Talle (relative of Betsy's? brother/father?) She did have a brother named "Andreas Andersen TALLE born in 1868 in Luster, Norway.
In checking emigration records, nothing definitive was found in the Bergen list (checking the Digitalarkivet for 1890-91.) In the Digitalarkivet from Oslo (1867-1930) an Emil Sorensen was fouond on Sept. 18, 1891 on post 87713, listing him as a "Somand" at 24 years of age with the "Bopel" being Amerika. (Is this our Emil?)

Og hele brevet om noen har lyst å vite:
1. Emil John/Johan Emil SORENSEN was born 2 Sept. 1865-67 was born in "Bergenskanten", Norway. (Every American document we have found is consistent in this birthplace.)
2. Marriage record lists him as marrying Betty TALLE (Bertha/Brita/Britha/Betsy Andersdotter TALLE) on 30 October, 1897 by Pastor of Norw (handwriting was difficult to read) of the Lutheran Church in the St. Louis, Minnesota County. Pastor was J.H. Grotheim.
3. 1900 Census of the Biwabik, Minnesota census record states he was born in "Sept. 1866" in Norway of Norwegian parentage and immigrated in 1890 and was a "saloon keeper".
4. The 1920 census has Emil as 52 years old, born in Norway of Itasca County, Bowstring, Minnesota.
5. He and Betsy had 10 children: Emily B. (f), Clara Gunhild (f), Morris John (m), Ingaborg (m), Stanley (m), Chester (m), Adeline (f), Norman (m), Marjorie (f) and Joan LaVerne (f). Joan LaVerne is my husband's 87 year old, still living, mother.
6. The 1920 census also stated Emil immigrated in 1890.
7. Emil was listed in the 1910 census as being a farmer.
8. Emil died 13 July 1929 and was buried in Duluth Minnesota. He was 63 years og age. An obituary we have only lists that he was "born in Norway".
9. The 1900 census of Biwabik Minnesota found an "Amel" Soren b. Sept. 1866, father and mother born in Norway; year immigrated 1890.
12. The ports of Kobehavn, Denmark; Goteborg, Norway; Fredriksand, Norway; Stravanger, Norway; and Trondheim, Norway were searched in 1999 and no Emil was found.
13. In Oslo records, however, an "Emil, 24 years old of "Lamd" was found; Homeplace was listed as "F-stad" and then crossed off and "Amerika" was written in. (If this is our Emil, had he been to America previously?) Destination was EauClaire, Wisconsin (which is also where the TALLE's settled after immigrating.)
14. NY passenger lists for 1889 were checked. The closest entry was an "Axel" Sorensen, age 23, sailor from Norway, arrived on the "State of Nevada". (Is this our Emil?)
15. No listing for an Emil Sorensen in the Norwegian Seaman's records (mariners) of the Fredrikstad Emigrants (1883-1890).
16.The Glemmen and Osier Frederikstad churches birth and cristening records of 1864-1867 was checked with no Emil found.
17. In Family Search, the IGI lists an "Emil SORENSEN born 20 Aug. 1867, christened 20 Oct. 1867 in Sor Odal, Hedmark, Norway; parents Soren SORENSEN, and Elen Eriksdr." I do not feel this is our Emil however due to the birthdates.
