Kristian Gudbrandsen, f 1883 og Stor Opsal, Vang

Hei ~

In the Vangsboka for g.nr. 153-177, on page 142, it lists that Kristian Gudbrandse married Lavine Andersdtr Høksneseie and then says 'se Stor-Oppsaleie'.

I could not find the Stor-Oppsal farm in any of the three Vangsboka; one notes that for Oppsal, one should see Alderslyst but, I could not find the Stor-Oppsal farm under Alderslyst.

Can anyone help direct me where I might find more information on this farm and Kristian's family?

Stor-Opsal has G.nr. 79 i Vang. It is probably in the first book.

In the Vang’s books they started with the high numbers thus no g.nr. 79 is not covered by the bygdebooks of Vang.

Volume 1: g.nr. 178-194
Volume 2: g.nr. 153-177
Volume 3; g.nr. 115-152

They still lack fundings and an author to finish up the two, three last books…

Thanks so much for this note and the links. The birth and confirmation record are definitely the man that I am researching. For the 1900 census, an alternative is a boy who was living in Løten, and for that boy, the birth date matches exactly. I am not sure which is the correct person, but I am most interested in his children, so it is not critically important.

Hi,

I'm from Øvre Vang and I know the people living at Stor Opsal today. The name of the farm comes up as both 'Store Oppsal' and 'Opsal store' on maps, but the people there use Opsahl. It is in Øvre Vang, Hamar county. Alderslyst is also a farm in Øvre Vang, but too far away from Oppsal to have any connection I think. Let me know if you want more information.
