I'm trying to find shiplist, port of entry, traveling rout for Halvor Halvorsen (Halver Halverson) and his family.

If they settled in Canada, they would have likely travelled from Norway to Hull in England. From Hull, they would have taken a train to Liverpool and travelled from Liverpool by either a British or Canadian ship to one of four Canadian ports, namely:

1. Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia
2. Saint John, Province of New Brunswick
3. Québec City, Province of Québec
4. Montréal, Province of Québec

Hundreds of thousands of Norwegians who immigrated to America travelled via Canada. Most of these came through the Port of Québec City, then travelled by train to the closest American port of entry (customs), which was St Alban's in the State of Vermont.

If he sailed directly to America then he would have travelled likely to New York or Boston, or another American port.

When he travelled to North-America, do you know if he settled in Canada or the United States? Knowing this can help to shorten the search, especially since Halvorsen is fairly common a surname.

The family in US have told me that he was in 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry regiment "Rought riders".

As fare as i Know they settled in USA

Ask the family in the USA to get a copy of his Naturalization papers and all his land papers if he homesteaded and bought land. That should give more information as to how he got to America.
