FYHN, Alvin
Alvin of Regina, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2015 at the age of 98 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Hilda and son Bryan. Alvin is lovingly survived by sons David of Calgary and Kevin (Cheryl) of Regina; daughters Deanna (Gord) Jackson of Yorkton, Audrey (Don) Schemenauer of Humboldt and Bev Tate (Pete Guraluk) of Saskatchewan Beach; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Al worked his entire career with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He was a very generous, unselfish man with a strong sense of community, volunteering for everything including income tax services. He was also involved in UCT, Legion, and the Exhibition Board. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Alvin's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at http://www.regina-memorial.ca. Arrangements entrusted to

FYHN-Hilda of Regina passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Regina at the age of 88. Hilda is predeceased by her son Bryan in 2001. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Alvin; daughters: Deanna (Gordon) Jackson of Yorkton, Audrey (Don) Schemenauer of Humboldt, Beverley (Ken) Tate of Saskatchewan Beach; sons David (Patty) of Calgary, Kevin (Erin) of Regina. Hilda also leaves 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends that she cherished and enjoyed. Hilda loved her needlework and spent hours doing this in her later years. She entered her needlework and baking in many exhibitions and won numerous awards.. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. A MASS OF CELEBRATION will be held St. Martin, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK. on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The death of Mrs. Margaret Johanna
(nee Theis) Schreiner of
Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle
Lake, SK, (and formerly of Naicam,
SK),occurred at St. Paul’s
Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on
Sunday, June 2, 2013. She
was 89 years of age. Margaret
was born on October 27, 1923,
to Peter and Rose (nee Kramer)
in Wilton, North Dakota,
USA. Her father worked in a
coal mine but because of health
issues the family moved to the
St. James area to a farm when she was two years old (1925).
Land was cleared and crops were planted, harvested, and the
family farm was established. Margaret attended Norwegian
Grove School until completing Grade 8. On July 22, 1946, Margaret
married her teenage sweetheart, Bernard Schreiner, at St.
James R.C. Church. Bernard farmed in the St. James area and
it wasn’t long before they were blessed with their first child, Donna,
on April 21, 1947. Three more children followed: Florian on
June 21, 1949, Vera on November 9, 1952, and finally, Vern, on
October 27, 1958. Margaret had a full time job raising the four
children while Bernard operated the mixed farming operation.
Though raising four children and operating a mixed farm are fulltime
jobs, visitors were always welcome-and many visitors there
were. The Theis’ and Schreiner’s were very family oriented so
when the day’s work was done Margaret was often either entertaining
visitors at the farm or visiting family and neighbors in the
area. She was an active member of the CWL for the St. James
Church as well as a participant in community social events’ at
the curling rink, the dance hall and neighborhood farm special
occasions. She loved to dance and was thus a “regular” at the
St. James hall events. Her longevity is due in part to Bernard’s
research and application of natural remedies. Margaret and
Bernard retired in 1984 and moved to Naicam, where Margaret
resided until two years after Bernard’s passing on November 6,
2009. The loss of her life-long love was a very difficult event for
Margaret. With a heavy heart but many fond memories, she left
her home in Naicam in May of 2011 to spend the last two years
of her life at Bethany Pioneer Village. Margaret will be lovingly
remembered and sadly missed by three children, six grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren: Donna (Emmett) Bauer of
Calgary, AB, and family, Rhea (Noel) Bernard and their children
Macala, Dana and Emmett of Lloydminster, AB, Tania (Roland)
Doepker and their children Kassidy and Haylee of Whitecourt,
AB, and Layne Bauer of Calgary, AB; Vera Schreiner and son,
Vance (Christa) Gawron and their daughters Reese and Rory,
all of Sherwood Park, AB; and Vern (Kim) Schreiner of Red
Deer, AB, and family, Justin Schreiner (special friend Samantha)
of Calgary, AB, and Corbin Schreiner (fiancee Jessica) of Red
Deer; one sister, Adeline Schemenauer of Lake Lenore, SK; and
brother-in-law, Alvin Fyhn of Regina, SK. She was predeceased
by her husband, Bernard Schreiner; son, Florian
Schreiner; one granddaughter, Janelle Schreiner; parents, Peter
and Rose (nee Kramer) Theis; two sisters: Clara (Louie)
Schreiner and Hildegarde Fyhn; two brothers: Joe (Anne) Theis
and Ernest (Geremia) Theis; brother-in-law, John Schemenauer;
parents-in-law, Charles and Elizabeth (nee Sasges) Schreiner;
and by twin sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Joe) Voelk and Evelyn
(Leo) Gerwing. The Prayer Service for Margaret was held at St.
George’s R.C. Church, Naicam, on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 7:30
p.m., led by Germain Dauk and Frank Garchinski. Scripture
readers were Donna and Emmett Bauer, and the eulogy was delivered
by Emmett Bauer. Memorial table attendants were Phyllis
Bauer and Bev Schreiner. The Funeral Mass was offered at
St. George’s R.C. Church on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 2:30
p.m., celebrated by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB. Others taking part
were: Macala Bernard, crossbearer; Troy and Craig Martinka,
altar servers; Vern Schreiner, urnbearer; Tania Doepker and
Justin Schreiner, scripture readers; Layne Bauer and Vance
Gawron, intentions; Margaret’s great-grandchildren, giftbearers;
Rhea Bernard and Audrey Schemenauer, memorial table attendants.
Music ministry for both services was provided by Donna
Becker. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in
Margaret’s life”. Interment followed at St. James R.C. Cemetery
in the Lake Lenore district. Memorial donations may be directed
to either the St. James R.C. Cemetery Fund or the Naicam
