Arne Ören
Hello.
First of all I'd like to apologize for writing in English if that is inconvenient but I wouldn't dare trying to write in Norse! : )
I find genealogy very interesting and have traced one part of my family to Rjukan.
I am seeking for information about my great grandfather, Arne Ören (maybe written with ø) and his parents, Kari and Kristen Ören. I do not know my family further than that in Norway.
Arne Ören was born the 22nd of May 1890 most likely in Rjukan and died in Iceland 7th of October 1953. Moved to Iceland in 1911.
I have searched the churchbooks, without any luck (I also find it very hard to understand the writing). I know his name is in the churchbooks and I've seen it before but I've lost the information.
Does anyone know anything about Arne? Can you help me find some information about him and especially his parents, Kari and Kristen? Is it possible to even find anything about his grandparents and further up? I am really lost, I have no idea where to begin searching.
I know that Arne had a halfsister called Oline/a and married a man named Olsen, but I know nothing more.
Sincerely, Kristjan.

Hello, and welcome on this forum!
English is no problem, and probably easier than Icelandic
This is probably Arne in the 1910 census, stating that he is born in Aamdal.

Hei
Maybe its nr.31, right side, Arne, with parents: Værksarbeider Kristen Arnesen og hustru Kari Olsdatter Flis? (I am not sure about the last word)
Kildeinformasjon: Telemark fylke, Skafså i Mo, Klokkerbok nr. II 2 (1851-1890), Fødte og døpte 1890, side 48.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... x_side=-49
Permanent bildelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 060110.jpg
I belive this is Arne in census 1900, and maybe Kristen is dead. Have to be checked.

Re: Arne Ören
Hi
I think I have found your Arne Øren, but he spell the name as Øhrn .
Arne Øhrn born 22 mai 1890. He was a worker at Vemork, Rjukan. He also lived there. He was born at Aamdal. (Vinje? In Telemark)
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft ... 6531005045
Could not find him in those churchbooks, from Vinje or Tinn.
I have searched for his parents in FT 1910, but did not find any Kristen/Christen/Kristian Øhrn/Øren in any part of Norway.

Re: Arne Ören
Yes! That is the churchbook which I was looking for, Skafså (couldn't remember the name until I saw it)
Kari Olsdatter and Kristen Arneson, ok, gives me good information. I appreciate this fast reply, I've spent the last two days doing nothing but school and looking through churchbooks, but luckly you found it!
Thank you for the lovely welcome, I do hope to learn a thing or two from here.
Does this mean more information can be found about his parents and grandparents now that their names have been found?
Anyways, I'll try to look once I have more time for it, do you guys recommend any webpages for this? Is there anything such as 'mandtalning' or 'folketalning' or something which can be easily checked online?
I appreciate the help from the three of you, I sent the last daughter alive of Arne a letter, she's very in to genealogy but didnt find anything except for Kari and Kristen, which is where I learned about their names. Hopefully something can be found about the grandparents.
I think they were very active in changing their last names, using the old name system with 'daughter' and 'son' of-
Arne changed his last name from Ören to Kristensen when he moved here, so this could all fit.

Re: Arne Ören
Wow, I did not really expect this much to be found, thank you so much guys! Luckly there is a weekend so I can try digging a bit myself, but wow, this is so fun to see!
Re: Arne Ören
So, school's been keeping me busy but I have done some more research:
Kari Olsdatter & Kristen Arnesen are parents of Arne Kristensen, my great grandfather. (already knew that) I will be underlining the name Arne if I am talking about my great grandfather, to not confuse with ancestors with same names.
Hope this family tablet thing makes sense to you, the reader:
Kari Olsdatter 24. 12. 1871 - ??. ??. ????
--Olav Halvorsen 14. 03. 1841 - ??. ??. ????
----Halvor Gundersen ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
----Birgitte Pedersen ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
--Joraand Jørgensdatter 07. 07. 1839 - ??. ??. ????
----Jørgen Olsen 26. 07. 1805 - ??. ??. ????
------Ole Paulsen ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
------ Hæge (Helga?) Jørgensdatter ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
----Asgjerd Ben(e)diktsdatter 23. 01. 1806 - ??. ??. ????
------Ben(e)dikt Anundsen ??. ??. 1780 - ??. ??. ????
------Catarina Sørensen ??. ??. 1781 - ??. ??. ????
This is what I've discovered of Kari's family.
Now, to Arne's father, Kristen Arnesen ~1863 - ~1893,
I've recently found out this:
--Arne Kristensen 03. 04. 1822 - 25. 03. 1894, husman og skredder, ble kalt Arne Skredder. (Skredder = tailor, clothes stuffs)
----Kristen Arnesen ~31. 07.1796 - 25. 07. 1885
------Arne Torsøn ??. ??. ???? - "begr. 3.4.1808" (Buried)
--------Tor Arntsøn (Arnt = Arne?) ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
--------Anne Svendsdatter ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
------Elen Paulsdatter 01. 11. 1767 - "begr. i Søndeled 12.5.1809." (Buried)
----Gertrud Ommundsdatter (Ögmund?) ~12. 07. 1797 - ??. ??. ????
------Ommund Osmundsøn ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
------Taran Gundersdatter ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
--Berte Thorbjørnsdatter ??. ??. 1823 - ??. ??. ????, Jordmor
----Thorbjørn Kristensøn ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
----###### ####### ??. ??. ???? - ??. ??. ????
(excuse this unbridled amount of question marks, had to replace the dates/names with something)
I also tried organizing the 'family tablet' by colouring the prefix at their names, e.g. putting married ancestors to same colour.
Is the name Gundersdatter~ 'Gunder?' also same with Anundsen~ 'Anund' ?
Huge thanks to this topic:

learned a lot of Arne's father side family there. I discovered his parents at 1865 census.
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft ... 8158001643
Arne's daughter, who's still alive confirmed that those are his parents. "Those names ring a bell yes."
I've tried searching further back without much luck. Is there any way to trace this even further back? Or even find out those missing dates? They are important of course as well.
