Kulteboe

Hello,

Any idea where "Kulteboe" is? I came across this farm name with "Randi (Ragne) Andersdatter", from Kulteboe. She married in Stokke, Vestfold, in 1818.

In Dano-Norwegian the "e" after a vowel usually marks that the preceding vowel is long. It is a bit oldfashioned now. In modern times the name might as well be spelled as "Kultebo". I was not able to find any such place in Norway. However, there is a place called "Kultebo" in Sweden (and in Swedish the spelling convention with "e" as a marker of long vowels is not used):

So she might perhaps have been Swedish - but I do not know for sure.

Hi

In a book called "Den norske Lods" a place called Kultebo is mentioned.
It seems to be somewhere near Bolærne and Kongshavnsund.
This is close to Nøtterøy.
