Funeral services for Ole I. Sundsvold were held Saturday, May 18, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ogilvie, with the Rev. James Hesse officiating.
Music was provided by Jacki Peterson. Pallbearers were Todd Sundsvold, Tim Odell, Daniel Odell, Mark Hancock, James Eye and Leroy Partridge. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Sundsvold, Robert Koll, Jarod Dunn, Larry Sundsvold, Krista Eye and Lisa Hancock.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery at Ogilvie.
Arrangements were by Dresser-Methven Funeral Services of Mora and Ogilvie.
Mr. Sundsvold died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the Kanabec County Hospital in Mora.
He was born to Nels and Gurine Sundsvold Aug. 5, 1920 in Borgholm Township, Mille Lacs County, Minn.
He resided in the Ogilvie and Mora area his entire life. He enlisted in the Army, serving in World War II. He served with the 125th Field Artillery Battalion, 34th Division. He saw action in the European, African and Middle Eastern campaign. He served under General Patton and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a staff sergeant. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 49. Ole was commander of American Legion Post 640 in Ogilvie in 1993 and 1994, and was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ogilvie.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Elizabeth; and grandson, Joshua.
He is survived by two sons, Maurice "Corky" and wife Kathy of Mora, and Paul and wife Debra of Deerwood; two daughters, Mary Odell and husband Larry of Minneapolis, and Barbara Sundsvold of Aitkin; grandchildren, Lisa, Timothy, Daniel, Todd, Krista, and Jarod; great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Taylor, Travis, and Rachael; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
