i live in australia and i dont know if im in the right place but i need some help i have found a schønning in my family tree here is what i have ane marie schønning married to niels andersson lived in berg østfold norway in 1841 had child johan herman nilsen in 1841 and anders magnus nilsen born in berg in 1844 now i dont know anything else i hope someone can help as the name schønning i think is swedish in the 1865 census for fjaere aust agder johan herman nilsen is there with his wife and children and his mother and it says she was born in dal and her age i think she was born in 1817 in the record of anders birth there are a few swedish names

and i have found another schonning having a baby johannes, lena schonning and anders olsen stake who is also in the witness list for anders magnus

for your help and as i now need to chase after niels andersson in swedish records i was wondering where you were getting the previous information from and as i also have other ancestors from sweden one in navrestad also was wondering if i can chase these myself as i dont want to be a burden on yourself for every question i have



i also posted this subject in the halden and district because that is where they went and fredrikstad forum as to get all info on that part of my line but you have given me alot

Olof and Nils moved to Snarkil bruk 1831.Nils lives there until he went to Norway.

In Sweden there are counties (län), but there are also landscapes (landskap). The landscapes are historical and cultural entities.

Dalsland is one of the traditional Swedish landscapes. Älvsborg is the county (län).

So it will be correct both to say that Billingsfors is in Dalsland and to say that it is in Älvsborg.
