Min Oldefar Ludvig Lauritsen - Født: 22.12.1864 i Larvik. Døpt: 11.06.1885 i Larvik
Gift med: Karen Helene Hansen - Født: 25.10.1865 i Larvik. Død: Mellom Sept. 1886 og Mars 1890. Datter av Anders Malerød Hansen, Larvik og Barbara Joakimsdtr. Tanum, Brunlanes.
De får sønnen Lorents Hansen 21.10.1886. (Min farfar).
Ludvig emigrerer til USA 14. mars 1890 som enkemann og sjømann.
Informasjon fra Digitalarkivet, Folketelling Larvik 1865 og Emigrerte fra Larvik 1887 – 1930.
Ludvig gifter seg med Marie født 1866 fra Norge i 1891.
De slår seg ned i Lewes, Sussex, Delaware og Ludvig arbeider som kokk ombord på Losskøyte (Pilot Boat).
De får barna: Allen L Ludvigsen født 1895 og Marguerite Ludvigsen født 1897.
Allen L får sin utdannelse ved University of Delaware og gjør det meget godt der som idrettsmann. Han gifter seg med Rae D og de får barna Ina Fay født 1920, Marguerite og Ruth Ann. Begge født 1922.
Allen slår seg stort opp som Bygningsentreprenør og bosetter seg i Wilmington. Han bli drept da han krasjer med sitt eget fly 24. juli 1934.
Her slutter alle mine spor. Jeg håper å finne ut om noen av døtrene til Allen eller etterkommere av hans søster fikk barn og hvordan jeg kan spore disse opp.

Thank you Margit for using your time to help me.. I looked closer into ancestry.com and I found the passengerlist you refer to. I also found Allen at the passenger list 1820 - 1957. Line 17 - Micro Serial T715 - Micro Roll T715-4963 - Page no. 36. Arrival date May 19th 1931.
Both port of departure and arrival was New York. Could it be cruise??

At the same place I found an Allen L Lauritsen in the U.S. Phone and Adress Directories 1993 - 2002.

Happy to help when I can.
The Allen you found at Wilmington is the correct Allen. Remember, his middle name is Louis from his WWI records. I do not find his death at SSDI. Old addresses and telephone records appear online a long time after deaths.

You need to find an obituary of her death if there is one to find more information about the family.

Tom wrote that Allen L. Lauritsen died in 1934. How can he be in "U.S. Phone and Adress Directories 1993 - 2002"?

His (Allen's) wife died in 1991. She more then likely left the phone listed in his name.
My father died years ago, the telephone is still listed under his name, not my mother. Many widows leave the telephone listed under their husband's name.

I apologize if I do not always understand what is written in Norwegian on this message board.

I belive Margit is right when she says that the phonenumber and name haven't been changed and was deleted 3 years after Rae died.
I have sent my information to Wilmington Public Library hoping they could help me finding an obituary of Rea's death or give a lead where to go.

I tried a lookup at Lauritsen in Wilmington and found 6 persons. But to get the phonenumber and or adress I have to registrate and pay. Is there other directories like the electronic norwegian telephonebook in US?

Does the abbriviation SSDI means Social Security Identification?

Do not pay, there are not any telephone numbers of Lauritsen in Wilmington, Delaware. You said he died in 1934? Then any male child born to him, if there is one, would have to be at least 74 years old.

Marguerite FORD

Marguerite L. (Mimi) Ford Age 80 of Hockessin, DE passed away peacefully at her home on November 13, 2002 surrounded by her family.

Mimi was a graduate of The Wilmington Friends Sch-ool as well as the Delaware School of Nursing. She provided hearing screening services throughout the county and state for the better part of 60 years. She retired from the Department of Speech and Hearing with the State of Delaware after 25 years of service. Expanding her career, she created Delaware Speech and Hearing, which allowed her to continue her nursing efforts for the children in Delaware. She also chose to generously volunteer her time with Wilmington Friends School. Mimi lived her life vibrantly and with fierce independence. She enjoyed dabbling in the stock market, working with her computer, and ESPN sports, especially college basketball.

A devoted and very special mother, grandmother, and friend to so many, she is survived by her children, Sharon Ford, Michael Ford and his wife, Peggy Montgomery, Patrick Ford and his wife, Cathy, Arne and his fianc‚ Charlene Lonsdale and David Ford and his wife, Patricia Hoffman; her grandchildren, Amy Lewis, Molly Hayes, Jacqueline, Jake, Marley and Erin Ford and Lynn Riley; and her great grandchildren, Auggie and Sam Riley.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday afternoon between 1-3 pm, at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOMES, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. The celebration of life will commence at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mimi's name to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
