Se denne linken: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/we ... 85012#ovre

Jeg tror Post 85012 er min oldefar. Hvor finner jeg mer info om disse 2 opplysningene:
Kjelde: BOK 15A
Rederi: ANGLO

That was a quick answer, thank you.

Unfortunately I have two birthdates: 1843, Jan. 15th or 25th.
The 15th is from his death record, of which I have a copy, see later.

But this same person I find in the norwegian birth record in Kristiania 1843, Jan.25th with the same names of parents. So I think Jan.25 is the right one.

I have found him (I think) in North Dakota, Clement, Dickey county. He was a blacksmith. As you know the Census of 1890 was destroyed by fire. So where he lived in 1890, I don't know.

Then I found this person both in Census 1900 and 1910, living in Clement, Dickey, where he also died June 19, 1918. And I have written to North Dakota and I got a copy of the death record.

My mystery is as follows: My grand grandfathers name was Peter Emil Henriksen, blacksmith, borned in Kristiania/Oslo in 1843. He got 5 children and my grandmother Emilie H. borned in 1884 was the youngest. She died in Norway in 1980, before I started with exploring my family.

I have never heard anyone in my family speak about Peter Henriksen, when i grew up. All the information I got, was: He had emigrated to USA, where he probably had died early as an alcoholic.

This Peter Henriksen emigrated via Stavanger 1888. But I am still not quite sure it is him. But his age, occupation and birthplace is right. So that is why I wonder where to find the original source and information about the ship company.

So this is my (concentrated) story.

Have you asked for a copy of his naturalization papers?
I find this:

Name Country Date Papers County Volume Page Comments

Hendrickson, Peter E Norway August 16, 1889 1st Dickey D-1 177
Henriksen, Petter Norway October 27, 1896 2nd Dickey F-9 437

Name (Last, First Middle) Date of Death County of Death Gender Age Date of Birth State of Residence County of Residence Action

HENRIKSEN, PETER E 06/19/1918 Dickey MALE 75 Years 01/15/1843 North Dakota Dickey

You can request a copy of his obituary online if available, the charge is $5 in America. You will need to send an email to this person with all death information.

No, I didn't think of the naturalization papers.

His spelling on the death record is: Peter Emil Henriksen.

:? No I am not good at understanding all norwegian. I understand some of what is written in the Bygdebok's I have. I assume that you are telling me that in the 1865 census in Norway he is listed as Petter Hendrichs?
If it would be easier for me to order the papers and obit for you, contact me off the message board and I will be happy to help.

Yes you can send both requests to the same address. Send this for the death and ask for an obituary lookup:

Name (Last, First Middle) Date of Death County of Death Gender Age Date of Birth State of Residence County of Residence Action

HENRIKSEN, PETER E 06/19/1918 Dickey MALE 75 Years 01/15/1843 North Dakota Dickey

And send this for Naturalization papers:

Name Country Date Papers County Volume Page Comments

Hendrickson, Peter E Norway August 16, 1889 1st Dickey D-1 177
Henriksen, Petter Norway October 27, 1896 2nd Dickey F-9 437
