Caroline Nilsdatter

Legg inn av gj10647 » 28. februar 2017 kl. 22.31

I have been searching for the marriage record and the baptsim record for Caroline Nilsdatter's daughter Antoine. Caroline was born in 1851 and still living at home according to the 1875 census for Modum. In 1886 Caroline and her daughter emigrate to USA. According to family history Caroline's husband Ole Johnson died in Norway before they left.

I cannot find Caroline leaving the parish or a marriage record for her or a baptism record for Antoine, or a death record for Ole Johnson.

I appreciate any help that you can give me.

I guess these are the emigration records for Caroline and her daughter i 1886:

https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/g ... 0000995336

If you look at "Stilling/Stand" in Caroline's record you see that she was stated to be married ("g" = gift = married).

A little bit more information about her would be helpful to enable my to track her with some certainty between 1875 and 1886.

These are the two candidates closest to your description in the Census of 1875:

22 Oct. 1879 #2 marries Hans Gulbrandsen Raaeneie in Heggen, Modum (no 31):

He was born in Modum, but for the time being he worked as a gaardsbestyrer (i.e. farm manager) in Svelvik, Vestfold. The records show that they left Modum for Svelvik in 1879 (probably just after they married) and received a certificate confirming this on 22 Febr. 1881 (no 3 and 4):
SAKO, Modum kirkebøker, F/Fa/L0011: Ministerialbok nr. 11, 1877-1889, s. 297
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/kb20061101370864

Just two months later probably the same couple left Drammen, Buskerud for Philadelphia:

If this is your Caroline, her daughter could have been born in the USA. Then she brought her with her back to Modum, before returning to the USA in 1886.
