Help reading a record
I am having trouble reading a record in the Tynset churchbook and would appreciate some help.
The challenge is both the date and the name of the farm in record 9 (and 10!) at http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... x_side=-28 Hedmark county, Tynset, Parish register (official) nr. 20 (1848-1862), Birth and baptism records 1850, page 24.
I believe that the children were born on 1 Dec 1849. The father's name is Esten Olsen, but I can't make out the farm name (it looks like it starts with Kj and possibly two words), while the mother is Anne Østensdtr.
Takk så mye - De kan skrive på norsk,

Re: Help reading a record
I suggest birth date Dec 7, 1849.
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft ... 6419001967
Name: Esten Olsen Kjølmoen. The word following Kjølmoen is Inderst, I think (a kind of lodger).

Re: Help reading a record
I was able to find the confirmation record of Ole Estensen, at http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-117
(Hedmark county, Tynset, Parish register (official) nr. 21 (1863-1879), Confirmation records 1864, page 204)
and it looks to me that the date of birth is 7 Dec 1849 and the farm is Kjølmoe ophold, but then followed by two words that I can't make out.
Thanks for any reading help.

Re: Help reading a record
The twins were born December 7, 1849, and were bapt. January 20, 1850.
Parents: Esten Olsen Kjolmoen, Inderst og Hustru Anne Estensdatter, Tønset.
In the census 1900, the farm is called Kjølmoen.

Re: Help reading a record
The confirmation record shows Ole's birthplace as "Kjølmoe opholder sig paa Blasterhaug" i. e. he was born on the farm Kjølmoe, but at the time of the confirmation he lived on the farm Blasterhaug.

Re: Help reading a record
Hei Trond ~
This is a very interesting record that you found in the 1910 census.
The person in our lag who lists Ole Estensen as his ancestor has him moving to the US around 1870 and dying in an accident in Minnesota in 1896.
I need to have our lag member do some serious searching to make sure that he has the correct ancestor!!!
Thanks so much,
John
PS ~ Unfortunately, I can't find Ole Estensen in the 1865 census, although he was confirmed in Tynset at the Blasterhaug farm in 1864. I also can not find the Blasterhaug farm in the census records.

Else ~
Thanks so much for this information.
Unfortunately, based on the information found, it seems that my lag member may have a few more mysteries to solve, but that is part of the joy of genealogy!
Takk for alt!

Ole and his family in the 1865 census:

The Blasterhaug issue: The information in the confirmation records, where Ole is listed as born in Kjølmoe but staying at Blasterhaug, why is it given? Does the text mean that he was not in person present at the church in Tynset on the confirmation day?
You say can't find Blasterhaug, neither can I, but there is a place/farm called Blæsterhaug in Oppdal (Opdal) to the northwest of Tynset.

The text mean that Ole was born on the farm Kjølmo but was staying at Blæsterhaugen. Ole has moved from Kjølmoe to an another farm, Blæsterhaugen.
-----------------------
Opplysningene er hentet fra Tynset bygdebok, bind I, forfatter Ivar A. Streitlien, sidene 441-446.
