Probabely the name "Bommen" comes from the former community Sandsvær and the place Sagrenda just outside Kongsberg. Sagrenda used to be the main processing plant for "Kongsberg Sølvverk" and entrance to the silver mines.
In book VII "Sandsværs historie" page 531 you find the house "Bommen". Here you find Inger born 1796 and married 1818 to Paul Olssøn Saga. Her father Torkild Webrandsøn b1762 d1833 at Bommen. Mother is Anne Sirene Olsdtr. Olsrud b1772 d1809. All according to "Sandsværs historie".

"Sandsværs historie" i the local history of families used to live in Sandsvær community (gårds- og slektshistorie). Published in 8 books (II - IX) in the periode 1990 - 2001.
The latest books are probabely availabel in the local bookshop "Isaksen Libris" in Kongsberg.
"Sandsværs historie" could be borrowed from the local public library in Kongsberg or from any other public library in Norway.
However, if you tell who in the family mentioned above you have a particular interest in, I can trace his or hers family and their ancestors/decendants as told in the "Sandsværs historie".
Attached you find page 531 and 532 of book VII.

this is from the 1865 census someone told me bommen is a very common surname in kongsberg are they all related in some way
Also in kongsberg there is a family name of bommen but not my line if the name bommen is the name of a house are they also related to this line in some way or is that a completly different line altogether.The names i have come across like paulus bommen mum annicken paulus married hanna andrind lung are all out of kongsberg could they be related through one of paul olsen saga brothers

May be I was a little hasty with my conclusion about Ester Otilie. She is not mentioned in the book “Sandsværs historie” so this book is not confirming her, that is for sure.
But looking closer at the church minutes in your link (from Kongsberg?) about Ester Otilie (2 1910), her parents is most probably the same persons listed above as Olaf (ancestor 2 descendant 7) and Ingeborg (ancestor 3). Names and years of birth are the same. On the same page in the minutes you find Asbjørn (59 1909) with father Anton, probably brother of Olaf according to the Bommen-family information above.
Bommen is to day not so common surname in Kongsberg. Looking in the telephone directory you will find 103 persons in Norway, in Kongsberg there are listed 23 persons with this name. In Notodden 13. Fredrikstad 59.

Hi,my name is Dag Bommen,I was born in Kongsberg.Bommen means in Norwegian bar or fens, but it can also be used as in English a Toll Road;In Kongsberg there were a mining-boom in the silvermines in 1845-1900.To the best of my knowledge there were put up two cabins one in Saggrenda between the town and the mines and another one the other side of the town direction Hokksund and Drammen, where the ships took the silver to Copenhagen. To be allowed to use the road the traveler had to pay a fee, then the bom was lifted up.Hence, the bom in norwegian is bommen.My great great father was named David Kirkeby and his son was named Harald Halvorsen Bommen-born 1860 and thereafter we used the surname Bommen.I belive your family comes from "the Saggrenda Bommen".I see you lives in Australia;I lived 2 years in Melbourne Where do you stay?With regards Dag Bommen
