Madsens from Fjære

Legg inn av gj05478 » 13. september 2007 kl. 0.25

I would like to find the parents of Aase Bergitte Madsdatter, born about 1841 in Fjære. She is the second wife of Kittel Kittelsen, born about 1818 in Øyestad and they lived at Gjømle in the 1865 Census.

Aase Bergitte Madsdatter and family lived at Gimle in Fjære in 1875. I cannot find her in the 1900 Census and I cannot find any record of her birth, confirmation, marriage or death. It appears her husband Kittel died 01 Sept. 1890 at Fjære.

Jens Madsen, born about 1842 in Fjære lived with Aase Bergitte Madsdatter in the 1865 Census. In 1875 Jens and family reside at Skaregrøm- In 1900 Jens and family live at Biodden 218 in Grimstad.

Jens, son of Mads Johnsen, born 1799 in Froland, and his second wife Johanne Marie Nielsdatter, could be a brother to Aase but I cannot find any proof.

Also, who is Mathias Madsen, born about 1847 in Fjære, living with Terje Madsen and family in the 1865 Census for Strandstedet Colbjørnsvig in Øyestad? Terje, born 26 Feb 1832 at Frivold is also a son of Mads Johnsen, born 1799, and his first wife Kari Olsdatter. Terje and Jens are 1/2 brothers.

Aase Bergitte Madsdatter, born 01 Dec. 1844 in Arendal, according to LDS Family Search, is not the person I am researching.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I think you should try to check out this old guy on Skaregrøm, 1801-census, Mads Thorsen, born in Risør. He is 72 years old in 1865, and that makes him a possible father for Aase Bergitte and Jens, and of course Thor Madsen, who is the owner of Skaregrøm later,- that makes Thor the oldest son, probably,- and a possible bigbrother for the others.

http://www.rhd.uit.no/matrikkel/mtliste ... 0923&gnr=4 Tor Madsen owned the farm in 1886.

If you compare the names of children in the different Madsen-families you have, it _might_ help you to find out if parents have named their kids after grandparents, brother/sisters, etc. It`s could be a good clue, but not always :)

Hello:
Thanks for your assistance but Mads Johnsen and Johanne Marie Nielsdatter were the parents of
Karen Torine Madsdatter, born 1837; Jens Madsen, born 1842; Karen Torine Madsdatter, born 1852 and Johannes Madsen, born 1854. They probably had other children that I have not located.

Mads Johnsen and his first wife, Kari Olsdatter were the parents of John Madsen, born 1823; Ingeborg Madsdatter, born 1825; Ole Madsen, born 1828; and Terje Madsen, born 1832. I could have missed some children here, too. Mads, born 1799, was originally from Froland.

Ole Madsen, born 1828, was my great grandfather and he is the same Ole Madsen that lived at Rødmark at Skaregrøm in 1886. He died there in 1894. I am named after his daughter, Karen, born 1856.

I realize the similarities in names but, so far, have found no connection between the Tor Madsen family and the above Madsens.

I appreciate any help I get. Thanks again.
