John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
I am looking for John Larsen Lovlien, born in 1810 in Baerums Vaerk, Asker, Norway. He was born in Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker, which is close to Kongsberg. His father may be Lars Gundersen, mother is unknown. He married Berthe Katherine Andreasdatter Tislegaard on June 1, 1833. The immigrated to Madison Wisconsin USA in 1872
I am looking for information on his parents and family, perhaps information from the bygdebok. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Just slightly confused, is John Larsen born in Bærums Verk or in Eiker? Do you know where the couple was married?
Regards,
Arna Kristin

Hi,
Most of the church books of Eiker are digitalized.
I found one Johan Larsen born 1808 and one in 1814:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=dp06241801
The Johan Larsen born 1808, the father is Lars Erlandsen and the father of the one born in 1814 is Lars Amundsen.

Hi,
Since he also mention Eiker as birth place, I wonder if the parent’s of Lars also had a son named Johan in 1808 in Eiker.
Johan, born 3rd of August 1808, baptized 18th of August.
Parents: Lars Erlandsen and Margrete Knudsdatter, residence: Raaeneie.

Re: John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
Johan Larsen Lovlien was born in Baerums Vaerk, Asker according to the 1865 census, not on Lovlien in Fiskum, as I stated earler. I am sorry about the confusion.
I understand he moved to Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker sometime after birth. Family records say he was born on August 8. 1810. I see in the record he was christened August 26, 1810 in Asker and his father was Lars Gundersen. It is difficult for me to read, so is there a mother's name there?
Thanks very much.
Mike

The parish record for Asker shows that Johannes, son of Lars Gundersen from Kongsberg and wife Magrete Johannesdr. was born on August 8, 1810 on Fossum, and baptized on August 26, 1810.
Here is the link to the page in the parish record (baptism no. 13 on the right side):

Hi,
I finally found the baptism record in church book of Asker, he’s baptized in August not December, entry no 13 on the right hand side. His name is written Johannes, father Lars Gundersen from Kongsberg currently living at Fos…? (not sure) and I believe his mother is Margrete Johannesd. Hopefully, someone comes along and fill in the blanks here.
Akershus fylke, Asker, Ministerialbok nr. I 5 (1807-1813), Fødte og døpte 1810, side 12. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7732&idx_id=7732&uid=ny&idx_side=-14

Re: John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
Hi
I think Magrete is one of the godparents.
Mother's are listed to the far right and her name is not given for Johannes.
I also think Lars Erlandsen and Margrethe Knudsdatter is his step-parents. They lived on Raaeneie ( a farm owned by the farm Raaen) before they moved to Kongsberg. We are not told the name of their farm.

Re: John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
At the baptism, Magrete is listed as Mod., an abbreviation for Moder = Mother
Re: John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
In familysearch.org, I found a Lars Erlandsen marrying Margrete Knudsdatter May 24, 1807 in
Fiskum, Eiker, Buskerud, Norway, which is where Lovlien is located. If these were Johan's stepparents, they were married three years before Johan was born.

Re: John Larsen Lovlien, Fiskum, Ovre Eiker
Hi
I read the letters in front of Magrete as Mad = short for Madam, but not easy to read.
The column to the right lists: Modr navn og Intr dato = the mother's name and introduction date.
However:
In Øvre Eiker parish a boy by the name Ole was born June 16 and baptized June 23, 1805. His parents were Lars Gundersen and Malene Johannesdatter. They lived on Kolbrecheie.
Right page ab the middle:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-245
None of them were at Kolbrech in the 1801 census.
I have not found their marriage or Ole's confirmation. This MIGHT be the Lars Gundersen you are looking for. It is likely they would name a son Johannes/Johan after Malene's father. But are Malene and Margrete used as variations of the same name?
Can someone rule this family out?
