Gausdal, Froyse, Forset?

Legg inn av gj05502 » 14. januar 2008 kl. 20.22

Hello,
I am looking for information on Halvor Olsen b.~1786 (15 in 1801 census) in Gusdal. He married, in 1817 to Anne Iversdatter. At that time in 1817, he is said to have lived at Froyse and she at Froysehagen. I found a Halvor Olsen, 15, Tjener in 1801 census living at Forset.
Is Forset = Froyse?
Also I found 3 Halvors baptised in 1786/7. I believe the one on p. 211 is the one but the writing is difficult to read. There are other Halvors on p. 214 and 215 but I don't think their fathers' names start with Ole or Ola?
Does anyone have an understanding or deciphering of the priest's writing in 1786/7??

Halvor and Anne had four children all born at Frosehagen from 1815 to 1825, that I know of. Any other information about this family and or ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

One son Ole, had a child with Karen Olsdatter in Jun 1841, Even Olsen. I know nothing about Karen and don't know where to look or figure out. She is living at Frosen at the time of birth of Even.

Lastly, is there a bygdebok for Gausdal? Svatsum? Follebo?

Hello David

Forset and Frøyse is not the same place. Forset is located in Vestre (western) Gausdal, while Frøyse is in Østre (eastern) Gausdal.

I believe the parents of Halvor Olsen, baptized 16 july 1786 is Ole Joensen and Marit Halvorsdatter. We can find their marriage on 15 october 1772. Ole is from Frøsen (Frøyse) and Marit is from Helleberg. Marit’s sister Tora lives at Forset in 1801. That may explain why Halvor Olsen is employed at that place in 1801.

Best regards

Bjørn
