Hans Olsen Kollen

Hi! I am looking for more information on Hans Olsen Kollen and his wife Kari Johannesdatter. I believe I have identified four of the their children:

Ragnild - 11 Aug 1827 Kollen, Dovre - baptized Dovre
Anne - 7 Apr 1831 Kollen, Dovre - baptized Dovre
Ole - 29 Jun 1834 Kaallen(as written in Lesja online baptismal record) - baptized Lesja
Johannes - 1 Aug 1839 Kollen, Dovre - baptised Dovre

I was researching an Ole Hansen in Eiker, Buskerud who was listed as born in Lesja, Gudbransdalen in 1834. Ole's marriage record in Eiker lists his father as Hans Kollen. I am quite certain that my Ole Hansen is the third child of Hans and Kari who lived at Kollen farm in Dovre. I'm not sure why Ole was baptized in Lesja, unlike the other children.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dear John,

At the time we are speaking of, there were many poor people in Dovre and Lesja. I find many of my ancestors moving from farm to farm every now and then to find work. Sometimes man and wife even split up after the children had left home.

I am quite certain that I saw information on the people from Kollen the other day when I was doing a bit of researching for my self. It was then spelled Kaallen, and I believe it was in Sel or Vågå.

I will look into it as soon as I have time.

Kollen (Kolden) is a farm in Dovreskogen.
The parents to Hans Ols. Kollen was:
Ole Jørgens. 1776-1808 from Beithaverlykkja and Anne Hansd. Skeiewolden from Dovre.
Ole died in the war (Swedishwar) in 1808.
The parents to Ole was Jørgen Johns. 1740-1801 from Beithaverlykkja and Ragnild Olsd.
1736-1806 from Lillesæter.
Beithaverlykkja was a place who belongs to the farm Haugen - today it belongs to Breidal in Dovreskogen.
Hans Ols. and his wife Kari Johannesd. had these children:
1. Ragnhild 1827
2. Anne 1831 - moved to Ytterøy in Trøndelag
3. Ole 1834 - moved to Eiker in Buskerud
4. Johannes 1839 - moved to Ytterøy in Trøndelag - and in 1865 to Amerika
In Amerika he named himself John Ovre.
Kari died in 1843 - 36 years old, and then Hans married (1849) Ingeborg Hansd. 1818.
Hans and Ingeborg had these children:
5. Ole 1849 - married with Mari Johannesd. Moldalen from Dovre - they lived on Kollen
in 1875
6. Kari 1851 - married with Erik Ols. Sagflaten from Sel
7. Jørgen 1854 - married with Ragnhild Olsd. Aasen from Dovre.
They lived at Kollen (Kolden) farm. The owner today is: Hans Simen Kolden and his
wife Vera.

Hello Randi,

Thank you very much for the information. I appreciate the assistance. I am directly related to Ole who moved to Eiker, Buskerud, where he married in 1860. One of his seven sons, Johannes, born in 1865, immigrated to the US in 1893. Ole and his family remained in Eiker, Buskerud.
