Heinrick Larsen
Hello,
I am trying to find information on this family. The information is from the marriage of Heinrick Larsen to Mary Jane Kennedy, 12 Sep 1886 in Melbourne, Australia:
Heinrick Larsen, born ca. 1856 in Eidsvold, Norway (30 years old in 1886)
Father: railroad worker, Peter Larsen
Mother: Bertha Heinricksen
This is the only information known. I know the birth records for Eidsvold for this time frame were destroyed by fire, but I can not find a church confirmation record. I can not find the family in the 1865 or 1875 census, either.
Any ideas?
Mange takk,
Brian

Re: Heinrick Larsen

Henrik Larsens confirmation was probably around 1871(t.i. if he still was in Norway) and the church burned down in 1877.
Maybe the family emigrated before the 1865 census

I found a family tree on Ancestry. Do not know if the info is correct.
Peder Larsen was married twice. First with Anne Marie Henriksdatter who died in 1855. Then with Berthe Marie Eriksdatter, who is the mother of Henrik.

Re: Heinrick Larsen
Thank you Anne and Tove.
I have been looking at this family also. Here is the family in 1865:
http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webce ... =3758#ovre
Marie is listed as "Olsdatter" instead of "Eriksdatter", but it is the correct family. If Henrik was born in 1856, I wonder why he is not listed in the 1865 or 1875 census.
I can not find any records that show Henrik (Heinrick) born about 1856.

Re: Heinrick Larsen
Hi Brian.
I wonder what is the source for your information?
There are a couple of things that strike me as a bit odd: A son Heinrich of Peder Larsen would normally be named with the use of a patronymicon in Eidsvoll in 1830, they did not start to use fixed surnames until the end of the century, i.e. his name would be Henrich/Henrik Pedersen. On the other hand, they often used the freedom as an immigrant in a new country to take a new name as well!
You say he was married in Melbourne, but there is info here about families in USA, how did he end up in Australia?
You may ask a question about railroad personell to Carsten Schanche, in the forum at Digitalarkivet, to check if Peder/Peter Larsen is listed:

Re: Heinrick Larsen
Hi Olaf,
Here is the source for the information, I have attached the marriage record for Heinrick Larsen. It says he was 30 years old in 1886 (born 1856), born in Eidsvold, son of Peter Larsen and Bertha Heinrichsen.
I know the parents we are looking at went to Utah, as did their other children. I see no proof that it is the correct family, but I can't find a better choice, either.
I agree, of course, that he should have been Heinrick Petersen/Pedersen, but as you said, many emigrants used their father's last name instead of first name.
Too bad so many records for Eidsvold were burned. I don't know how we can prove this is the correct family.
Brian

Re: Heinrick Larsen
Peder Larsen (widower) and Birthe Marie Eriksdatter were married in Nes (Fenstad church) 17th September 1856 (No. 35)
Perhaps you should look for Henrik being born in Nes ?
I found that Edvard was born 5th January 1861 in Nes (Fenstad)
Kildeinformasjon: Akershus fylke, Nes, Ministerialbok nr. I 7 (1846-1858), Ekteviede 1856, side 276.

Re: Heinrick Larsen
I cannot make Tove's link above work, but I looked it up with the new search system, and this marriage confirms what Anne Lisbet found in USA, and it is most likely the family in the 1875 census. If it is the correct Henrik/Heinrick/Hendrik is another question.
