I don't read old-style cursive Norwegian very well, and this skifte entry has me quite confused. Would someone perhaps read though it and help me understand the family relationships and facts for the family members discussed? I believe it is the skifte for Madame Oli Johnsdaater Thun(?) dated 3 Sep 1736 (which means she had died before that date but probably in 1736?) who was the wife of deceased Niels Nielsen Rotkier, who died 12 Jan 1730. The surviving child appears to be only Anne Margethe Nielsdatter Rotkier, age 12, but I don't understand what much of the rest of page 195b is saying, if relevant (?).

On page 196a toward the bottom there is also a reference to another person that I'm tracing named Nicolai Wogensen--I assume this is something like a creditor entry (but I may be totally wrong..), but can I assume Nicolai must alive in 1736, because of this entry?

The widow Olie Jahnsdaatter Thun was not dead, she had the kings permission to have the 'skifte' delayed. They had only one daughter. There was nothing left for this daughter to inherit after the creditors had gotten their share of what was left. Legal guardian for the widow was Hans Larsen Randers.

Yes, you can assume Nicolai was alive.

Rolf-
Thanks very much for the quick response. Does that mean, if she was alive, that she got permission to delay the final probate for her husband, Niels Raatkier, who had already died some years before in 1730? If so, this would it seem to be an unusual procedure for probate handling, but would also help explain why I have not been able to find his probate record earlier.
