Thanks for your response, Palmar.
Dortea was 3/12 years, meaning 3 months old. I haven't been able to find a christening record for her. (I wondered if she wasn't christened because the family left in haste for Kristiania/Oslo. I know some families spent a long time in Kristiania before the ship, Høvding, left.)

Re: Thorvald BERGERSEN & Karen HANSDATTER Aurskog > N
I recon you will manage to read most of the church records. Unfortunately some of the church records from Aurskog are difficult to read. I only put out the domiciles for Anders and the rest of the children. For the rest of them, I only write if it exists.
THORVALD was christened on Feb.20,1825 in Aurskog.(born outside of marriage)
I have not checked this out in the church record,I have to look at the film.
Parents: BERGER Johnsen.... and MARI Trygsdtr. She was born at Smederud in Eidskog, and christened on Dec.10,1786 in Eidskog church,Hedemark. Mari`s parents were TRYG Pedersen,Smerud, b.1753-d.1807,and married on Nov.3,1782 to BERTE Gundersdtr. Vestfjeld,b.1755-d.1834
In the church record, there is a remark. regarding Mari: She had a daughter; MARTE b.on Dec.10.1830 (Marte`s father was MORTEN Olsen b.1808 at Delingsby,Fjellskogen) The pastor has also written that Mari had a child in Aurskog, and the father was Berger Johnsen. Mari got her permission to move out of the parich on Oct.1,1835 and moved to Aurskog, where she is confirmed. She also took Marte with her to Aurskog.
KAREN: b.on Sep.25,1830,christened on Oct.24,1830,Askedal u Aasnes,Aurskog, Akershus
She was also christened at home, but no date is given.
Karen`s parents were:HANS Olsen,Hagen u Gunhildrud,Aurskog,b.1793-... Married on Nov.22,1828 to BERTE MARIE Jakobsdtr.b.1805 at Sagbakken u Eid.(Aurskog/Blaker)
Hans`parents were: OLE Kristensen, Hagen u Aurskog Prestegaard(rectory),christ. on Sep.26,1745-d.1797. Married to#2.ANNE Kristoffersdtr.b.1745-d.on June 201820.
Anders born at Solli u Lier,Aurskog.
Gunda,Karen, the twins Mathilde and Casper were all born at Tangen/Haaveraatangen,Aurskog. They are not mentioned in the book at that place, but that I can easily understend, because that place was a very small one, and none of the tenants lived there for a long time before they moved again, as it was with a lot of the small tenant places/farms in Aurskog.
Thorvald,Karen and their family moved out of Aurskog in April 1873.
DORTHEA is not mentioned at the time!!Dorthe is most likely born some place between Aurskog and Oslo.I think what is written at the emigrasjon in Aug.1873 is wrong.
3 1/2 year is more likely to month or week.
Iwill be out of town for a while, but if you need any more information, I am sure someone else can help you.
Best regards,
Palmar

Re: Thorvald BERGERSEN & Karen HANSDATTER Aurskog > N
Can anyone please help with a birth date for Thorvald BERGERSEN? I have birth date of about January 1825. Palmar has christening date of 20 February 1825 in Aurskog.
Also, the family are recorded as leaving Aurskog in April 1873. Could someone please tell me, were the names of the children recorded and, if so, was Maren Olava among them? (If I am to be sure that she travelled with another family, under the alias Maren Olava LARSEN, I need to know if she left with her real family or died earlier.)
Thanks.

Pip, several Aurskog parish records are already available online and some includes emigration records. All Norwegian parish record are planned to be available by end 2007.

I am still struggling to read the place names in church book records, but here's my best effort:
Marriage of Thorvald BERGERSEN and Karen HANSDATTER:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... uid=ny&idx _side=-234
Parish Register: Aurskog, Akershus, Norway: Ministerialbok I 7, 1854-1877
Page 202, Marriage no. 6, 1857
I think this reads:
Ungkarl Torvald BERGERSEN Poli (or Pali) und Lier. Father Berger JOHNSEN Guldbakke
Pige Karen HANSDATTER Brooken i Aremoen. Father Hans OLSEN Brooken
I can only identify the names Halvor and HALVORS(EN) in the remaineder of this record plus the date 1873 which I presume relates to emigration.
Could someone please tell me if there is any such places as the above?
Thanks.

Re: Thorvald BERGERSEN & Karen HANSDATTER Aurskog > N
Pip and Palmar,
I am almost 100% sure that my ggg grandmother, Anne Tryggsdatter, was the sister of Mari Tryggsdatter. My conception is based on the fact that she is called Anne Tryygsdtr Smerud when marrying in 1823(Aurskog MINI I 5 1814- 1829 - no. 18)Image 277
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 030657.jpg
However her age is wrong. She is said to be 26 years old, but she should have been 39.
That is why I am not 100% sure, but I believe there is no other possibility. There were 2 or 3 Anne Tryggsdatter more, but they were married to other persons.
But you will find both Mari Trygsdr and Arne Tryggesen here when my gg grandfather Teodor Olsen is baptized in 1829( Aurskog KLOK 1814-1829-image 175)
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 020146.jpg
It would be very interesting to hear the opinion of Palmar on this case.
Best wishes
Kåre Petter

Re: Thorvald BERGERSEN & Karen HANSDATTER Aurskog > N
Hi, Kåre.
Sorry, I haven't checked the forum for a while.
If you do a parent search at Family Search (http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp) for Tryg PERSEN and Berte GUNDERSDATTER, you will find several children from the same family. There is an Anne (b. 1784) among them.
They had 2 daughters named Mari (one b. 1786, the other b. 1798). It is possible that they may have had 2 daughters named Anne.

I have taken a DNA family finder test on:
https://www.familytreedna.com
I do find the results interesting. Have you ever considered to take such a test ?
I do ask this question because I believe you are a distant cousin of mine.
I do hope this is not inconvenient.
