To små vart foreldrelause i USA 1884, kvar vart dei av?

Eg har i mange år forsøkt å finna ut kva som skjedde med Marie(Mary?) og Anders(Andrew?), etter at foreldra døydde med få dagars mellomrom i 1884.

Det var ei jente til, men ho har eg klart å finna ut av, dessverre så døydde ho ganske ung, då var barna hennar så små at dei heller hugsa ingen ting. (i FT1885 for Dakota Territory er ho notert som M.Moe. A(dopted).girl

Har også laga eit nytt tema på Dig.ark., men som de ser utan respons frå nokon.

Kom til å tenkja på at eg burde ha skrive meir om dei eg leitar etter, sjølv om det står utførleg i vedlagde lenker. Men her er det iallfall:

I 1882 reiser Knut og Inga og tre små born frå Modalen (Hordaland). I 1884 døyr både Knut og Inga, den eldste jenta Marie f.23.11.1878, Martha(ho har eg med god hjelp her funne ut av) og Anders f.16.02.1882, vert både mor og farlause med få dagars mellomrom.

Familien budde i Grand Forks, Nord Dakota.

Er det nokon som har gode forslag til korleis eg kan spora opp desse to barna? Marie f.23.11.1878 og Anders f.16.02.1882.

Martha er 'funnen' som sagt, men er det mogeleg å finna ut kvar det vart av Maria(Mary?) og Anders(Andrew?)

Foreldra kalla seg Moe i USA, men den dottera eg har funne, kalla seg både Moe og Knudsen, Knudsen med forskjellige variasjonar.

Inga Moe was born Nov 18 1846

Both died end of August beg. of September 1884, she killed, he suicide.

Did they die in Grand Forks? Do you have the newspaper write up of their deaths? I understand you are looking for two of the 3 children? Anders and Marie? What happened to the third child?

I wonder if you tell us more about "Martha" this will help in the search for the other 2 siblings?
I found one Martha Moe (b. june 1880) living in Grand Forks in 1900. Is that the right Martha?...I know you said she used the last name Knudson. Also the Martha Moe in the 1900 census was born in ND...so perhaps she is the wrong one?

Yes, they died in Grand Forks. Yes, I have got the article written in the newspaper, and yes, I am looking for two of three children

Martha, the girl in the middle, was raised in a Norwegian family, she lived with them in the Census 1885, and is still there in 1900.

In the Census1885 written like M.Moe A.(dopted)girl.

She married first one time, but divorced, then she married again and had three children, when the youngest (the oldest about 4 years) was a few weeks Martha died.

Her husband never talked about her, so when I heard this history, I started with "believe she was born about 1880, believe that she was born in Norway, believe that her name was Knutson or maybe Moe".

After hours and hours by searching I were able to locate her family north of Bergen, and found the emigration in 1882.

And then I started to look for her in USA, and found her with the Norwegian family.

I have got help from a helpful man at a library in Grand Forks (or close), he have been looking in the judge-paper or something like that. About the children there is only written that they were taken care of by friends/neighbours.

I dont think Martha knew to much about her heritage, because she is written to be born in ND, Norway, unknown, depending in what Census you locate her.

I checked the marriages in Grand Forks for either Marie or Anders getting married and did not see them.

I guess they have been moved to another county, or maybe to Minnesota that someone have given me ideas about.

It could looks like they have changed their names too, or maybe they died....
