Did Peder also emigrate?
At http://www.ellisisland.org I found a Peder Strand age 19, emigrated 1914...
He was from Lenvik (I think)..the info at this site is hard to read....and his father is listed
as John Strand.
Perhaps someone else can look at this info at ellisisland? I am a bit unsure of what the Manifest says about this Peder...

Is Lenvik part of Vågå?

Obed Arnold Odegard

Obed Arnold Odegard, age 86, of Pine River, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his home. He was born December 30, 1921, in Cayuga, ND, to Ole and Aase Odegard. Obed was a resident of Pine River for 63 years and was past owner and operator of Pine River Lumber. He logged in the area for 30 years and built over 30 homes in the Pine River and Backus areas, including the DAC in Pine River. He enjoyed hunting, making many trips to Montana and Alberta. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn;
son, Dennis Odegard of Pequot Lakes;
daughters: Cheryl Israelson of Pine River,
Janice Fuhrer (Joe) of Pine River,
Joanne Chapman (Mike) of Backus,
Gloria Cole of Sedona, AZ,
Wendy Flategraff (Joe) of Pine River;
sisters: Hilda Kuehn of Milnor, ND,
Petra Johnson of Robbinsdale, MN; 22 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Bristow; brothers: John Odegard, Gustave Odegard; sisters: Anna Johnson, Agnes Rasmussen and Paula Brant. Services will be 2 PM on Sunday, March 9, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hilda Kuehn

The funeral for Hilda Odegard Kuehn will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor, ND, with Pastor Curt Larson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. also at Milnor Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery near Lidgerwood, ND.

Hilda Odegard was born in Cass County, Minnesota near Pine River on May 29, 1910, the third daughter born to Ole and Aase (Sandness) Odegard who had immigrated from Vagamo, Norway, to Minnesota in the late 1800s. Her father, Ole, built a log cabin near Pine River, Minnesota, where Hilda was born and raised. She was educated in Ansel Township, and Cass County, Minnesota, before moving to North Dakota in the 1930s. Hilda was united in marriage to Reinhold W. Kuhn in 1933, at Sisseton, South Dakota. A few years after their marriage, the couple purchased the Kuehn farm in Sargent County, North Dakota, where Hilda lived for 70 years. Reinhold passed away on March 28, 1995.

Hilda enjoyed gardening, preparing, and preserving foods for her family; and she also worked side by side with her husband on the farm, where they raised grains, animals, and vegetables. She took pleasure in rural life, as she liked the prairie where she could see for miles. She especially liked the grain fields at harvest and the beautiful skies at sunset. She enjoyed listening to music; and her favorites were old gospel hymns, Norwegian folk songs and her grandson, Josh’s violin playing.

Hilda believed in her Lord, and had made a statement of faith at the age of sixteen; and continued her belief in salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life. She deeply loved her family and was always concerned about their education and salvation.

Hilda passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, Minnesota. She was 98 years old.

She is survived by three sons, Waldo (Joyce) Kuehn and Keith (Pat) Kuehn all of Milnor, ND, and DuWayne J. (Barbara) Kuehn, Westminster, CO; two daughters, Verna Lee Kuehn, Milnor, ND, and Deena K. (R.B.) Hopson, Fargo, ND. Hilda is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Leroy Ehlert, Wahpeton, ND; and her sister, Petra Johnson, Robbinsdale, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold, her parents, Ole and Aase Odegard, six siblings, Anna, Agnes, Paula, Gustav, John and Obed, and her daughters, Wanda Lee Kuehn and Betty K. Ehlert.
