Josephine og Martin Olauson (f. 19.02.1878) emigrerte til USA i 1904 og slo seg ned i Nord Dakota. De har mange etterkommere i USA men jeg har ikke vært i stand til å få kontakt med noen av de. Jeg har fått noen opplysninger fra North Dakota Genealog Forum men ikke nok til at jeg fant slektninger jeg kunne kontakte. I family search fant jeg endel om familien. . https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JLYD-GYS. I Find a Grave var det også mange opplysninger men ikke nok til at jeg klarte å finne nålevende slektninger. Derfor håper jeg at noen i familien til Josephine Marie Jakobson her i Slektsforum kanskje allerede har etablert kontakt med etterslekten i USA. En onkel og tante av Josephine, Mr og Mrs Edward Fredrickson betalt reisen for familien. Jeg har altså nok opplysninger om familien i Norge og familien i USA, men ikke nok til at jeg klarer å komme i kontakt med nålevende slektninger i USA.

Jeg finner et slektstre på Ancestry over Martin Julius Olausen f. 19.2.1878 i Narvik, som dør i N.Dakota i 1924, men konen heter Anne Marie og har et helt annet f.år enn Josephine.

Hvis det allikevel er riktig familie, kunne jeg sende en mail til vedkommende som har slektstreet og be vedkommende maile deg, men jeg burde få litt opplysninger om barna for å kunne identifisere familien. Kommer ikke inn på FS i dag - de har tekniske problemer.

Bessie Olauson

Bessie E. Olauson, 90, Bismarck, died Jan. 22, 2008, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Grace Lutheran Church, Driscoll, with the Revs. Gary Heaton and Jo Pfennig officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bismarck Funeral Home and continues one hour prior to the service.

Bessie was born March 15, 1917, in Phelman Township, near Temvik, N.D., to Raymond and Maud (Benedict) Jackman. She spent most of her younger life in Phelman Township in Emmons County, living in a sod house that was built in 1904 by her grandfather Benedict. She attended high school in Hazelton and graduated on May 19, 1936. Following graduation, she moved to Driscoll in April 1937. Bessie married Erling Olauson on Sept. 14, 1938, and together they had three children. Bessie was active in the 4-H Club and a leader for many years. She was also a homemaker's club member for over 45 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Elva Schultz, Renton, Wash.; two sons, Marvin (Barbara) Olauson, Mississippi, and Leroy (Marlys) Olauson, Bismarck; two sisters, Sylvia (Bill) Thomas, Schiller Park, Ill., and Della Laliberte, Jacksonville, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erling; her parents, Raymond and Maud; one brother; one sister, one half-sister; and one granddaughter.

Olaf Olauson

Olaf Olauson, son of Martin and Marie Olauson, was born in Norway on February 13, 1904. He came to the United States and to Sacred Heart, Minnesota, with his parents when he was seven months old. In 1907, they moved to Driscoll, North Dakota. There he was educated and grew to manhood. In 1931, he came to Fingal, North Dakota, where he was employed.

On October 3, 1932, Olaf married Louise Schlegel in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Louise was born on June 29, 1906, to Michael and Theresia Schlegel at Fingal. She went to School at Saint Gerhardt Sister School, east of Fingal. In 1920, her family moved to Brownsville, Texas, but returned to Fingal in 1927.

Since their marriage, Olaf and Louise have lived and farmed in the Lucca-Fingal area. Olaf was active on School and Township boards, and was also a church trustee.

Three children have blessed their home. Melvin, the oldest, married Annette Winkels. Three sons were born to them. A daughter, Marie, passed away in 1948 at the age of ten years. Robert married Linda Johnson. They reside on tire home place and have two sons; Michael, born on November 16, 1967, and Matthew, born on December 2, 1968.

Melvin James Olauson

Melvin was born April 11, 1933. He grew up and was educated in the Lucca-Fingal area. On May 21st, 1952 he married Annette Winkels at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Valley City. They continued farming with his Dad (Olaf) until 1955 when Melvin became assistance manager for Irv lmdieke at the Fingal Creamery, making the best butter around. In 1961 they decided to try the cafe business, which they had for two years. Their nine year old son, Melvin David learned a lot about ordering, how to make change, how to cook, and of course, how to wash dishes. 1963 brought them back to the country and Cuba Township, building up a new farmstead and beginning their present dairy business.

They have three sons: Melvin David, whom you meet above, and his two little brothers Shawn Patrick and Terry Scott. Melvin David was born April 21, 1953. He is a graduate of Fingal High School and the North Dakota Military Academy. He is presently employed with Fleet Wholesale and a senior at Valley City Slate College. On a snowy December 28th, 1968 Shawn was born and their little fellow Terry was born on November 4th, 1969.

ja Martin er bror til min bestefar Olaf Olausen, han tok senere navnet Olsen.

Knud Torgersen i Ausen er i allefall min stamfar. Tror det er et av de andre barna jeg stammer fra, ikke Torger Knudsen. Men mange av mine linjer ender opp i Visten området.
