Anne Marte Johannesdtr. f. 10.4.1869 i Tysnes, nr. 74 i linken under, dro iflg bygdebok for Tysnes bd 4 til Amerika i 1894 og giftet seg året etter med Nils Olai Nilsson, som hadde foreldre fra Tysnes. De slo seg ned som farmere i Truman, Martin Co, Minnesota. Jeg vet ikke mer om dem.

Anna Tolline Kristine Johannesdtr. ble født i 1874, men henne har jeg ikke funnet link til i kirkebøkene, ifølge bygdeboka utvandret hun i 1910 og giftet seg året etter med Jim eller Jens Grotnes, bosatt i Grogan Minnesota, men siste år i Borup, Minnesota. De hadde en sønn James som døde 25 år gammel. Heller ikke henne vet jeg mer om, har ikke funnet dem ved søk i amerikanske nettsteder.

Dette er jo bare helt utrolig og fanastisk! Det har ikke manglet på at jeg ikke har lett - både på det ene og andre stedet i USA - men særlig erfaring med dette har jeg jo ikke. Jobber med en omfattende slektsbok og trengte nå for alvor å finne disse søstrene, la ut en melding og håpet på et lite steg videre, men etter at par timer borte fra skjermen var hele familien tilsynelatende rullet opp! Som sagt: Fantastisk. Håper å finne noen nålevende personer som kan skaffe meg bilder av disse folkene til boka mi, men først må jeg fordøye alt dette materialet. FAIRMONT - Funeral services for Bruce N. Helvig, 81, of Fairmont, Minn., will be today, Nov. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be held in the Waverly Lutheran Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. today. Visitation was Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service today at the Grace Lutheran Church.

Bruce passed away on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, in the Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn.

Bruce Norman Helvig was born on Dec. 22, 1927, on the family farm in Waverly Township, Martin County, Minn., the son of John C. and Hannah (Nelson) Helvig. He attended country school and later attended Fairmont High School and earned his diploma.

Following his education, Bruce was enlisted with the United States Navy and following his honorable discharge, Bruce returned home to Minnesota.

On Feb. 11, 1951, Bruce was united in marriage to Evelyn Garbers in Fairmont, Minn. Together, the couple made their home on a farm near Truman and were blessed with two children, Jonathan and Jennifer.

Bruce was a devoted member of the Waverly Lutheran Church near Trimont, Minn., and the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing cards with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Evelyn of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Jonathan Helvig and his wife, Karen, of Truman, Minn., and Jennifer Saxen and her husband, Jon, of Sherburn, Minn.; grandchildren, Amanda Brosnahan and her husband, David, Stephen Helvig, Daniel Helvig, Taylor Saxen and Alex Saxen; one brother, Robert Helvig and his wife, Esther, of Grand Rapids, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Ardis McKean and Violet Garbers; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, John C. and Hannah Helvig, Bruce is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Albertson; grandson, Marcus Saxen; and four brothers-in-law, Ralph McKean, Merten Garbers, Merle Garbers and Edwin Albertson.

Esther Marie Helvig, age 90, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Esther was born in 1920 to Erick and Marie Englund in Minneapolis, Minn. where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from Edison High School in 1938. Esther then attended the University of Minnesota from 1938 until 1940 and completed her training at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage on May 1, 1943 to Robert Helvig in Charleston, W.V., where they made their home until 1946 when they moved back to Minneapolis. Esther was employed as a medical laboratory technician at St. Barnabas Hospital until the early 1950's. They lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area until 1977 when they moved to Japan. They then moved to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1981, following Bob's retirement. Esther was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and a dedicated member of the YMCA in Grand Rapids. She was also active in the Swedish Club and Sons of Norway. Esther enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards and loved crafts. She was a kind and selfless person, always putting others needs first.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and a brother, Lawrence Englund.

Survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Robert "Bob"; one son, Dr. Richard (Sherry Harapat) Helvig of Grand Rapids, Minn.; one daughter, Susan (Jerry) Langenkamp of White Bear Township, Minn.; one brother, Paul (Jeanne) Englund of Navarre, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Englund of Hawley, Minn.; three grandchildren, Kristen (Jay) Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn., Kenneth (Debbie Upton) Helvig of Cambridge, Mass., Karl (Mikkin) Helvig of China; one great-grandson, Tobiah Nicholas Helvig; many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the United States and Sweden.

Services: Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 14 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids and will continue on Thursday, April 15 from 10 until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Rev. Paul Leslie will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Zion Lutheran Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the donor's charity of choice.
