Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
Båten ankom New York den 13.05.1892. Etter dette stopper alle mine opplysninger om han! Kan noen hjelpe meg dette? Alle opplysninger a interesse!

Hei Kjell!
I searched in the 1900 census records for your Ludvig "Tiller" or Tillerbakk/Tillerback...nothing seemed to come up..
I'll take a look in later censuses (1910, 1920)...
I just did a quick search just now!

Hei igjen!
I found a Ludvig K. Tiller age 28 in the 1910 Ward county, Rolling Green North Dakota census. He immigrated 1902, and is married to Bertha, age 25. They do not have any children.
I know this information does not match what you said about his age and year of immigration...but the name looks good (jeg tenker??)!!!

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
Have you seen the record of your Ludvig at Ellis Island records?...he is there just as you say...arrived in New York on May 13, 1892 at age 17. His destination was "Dakota".
The other "Ludvig Tiller" that I found is still in Ward Co, ND in 1920..He and Bertha now have a 7 year old daughter, Selma. He is listed as L. K. Tiller in the 1920 census.

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
Hello!
Thank you!
I found that in Ellis island. I seems i have everthing about him correct untill he arrives USA. Then i got no information about him. His father is Ole Olsen Tillerbakken(born 13.03.1834- died 25.09.1924) And his mother was Karen Larsdatter(born 17.06.1844- died 27.06.1903). They had 4 sons and 3 daugthers.
Thank you!

Hei igjen Kjell Morten!
Is Tillerbakk the farm name that your family is from? Are there any other possible last names other than versions of "Tiller, Tillerbakk"?? I suppose Olsen is possible... I did search for Ludvig/Ludvik Olsen/Olson, too...no luck there, matching your Ludvik's year of birth and immigration info...

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
Hello!

I can`t find anything about him after he arrive USA. But i find out that he took the name Tiller when i leaved Tiller. I have searched with Ludvik Tillerbakken, Ludvik Tillerbakk, Ludvik Tiller, Ludvig Tillerbakken, Ludvig Tillerbakk and Ludvig Tiller. But all i find stops when he arrive USA.

Hei!
Where is Canton mentioned as his distination...in the Norwegian emigration records perhaps??...and was he going there because he knew a family or friend there?
Do you use Ancestry for your searches?

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
I am wondering about a David Tiller I found at the SSDI (have you used this??).
He was born in June 1900 and died 1976 in Sioux Falls, SD. I find him in the 1920 Day County, SD census at age 19. Can't seem to find him in earlier census records....can you find him?
Just trying to find someonw with a connection to your family.
Canton is not far from Sioux Falls...so just wondering if there is some connection...

Hei Kjell Morten!
Maybe you should check this person?
You do not say where in Norway he was born.
I think perhaps he went to Canada.

Hei igjen!
Yes, I was wondering if Ludvik/Ludvig might have gone to Canada. But Margit, this Ludvik Olson you found...he seems to have the wrong birth year compared to what Kjell Morten gave...am I right?
Of course the 1900 and 1910 census info I mentioned for "Ludvig Tiller" also did not match...

All i have on this person is listed in Churchbook, http://www.norwayheritage.com, http://www.ellisislandrecords.org, http://www.surnamenavigator.org, http://www.familysearch.org,www.findmyp ... art.action and http://www.digitalarkivet.no.
He was born in a place called Tiller, a place about 10 km south of Trondheim. So my name is from that place. Bakk means hill, and the place is on a little hill( a little bump) in Tiller. So the name became Tillerbakk. I have heard from some relatives of me, that he did not got any children an he died after 1942. A sister of my grandfather has heard that he maybe stayed in Chicago sometimes.
SUMMARY: Ludvik was born 09.06.1875 in Tiller, baptised 18.07.1875 christening 12.10.1890. Went to USA 28.04.1892 with the boat s/s Domino with the company Cunard. He changed boat in Liverpool, Gallia. The boat arrived New York 13.05.1892. His father is Ole Olsen Tillerbakken, born 13.03 1834, died 25.09.1924. Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
Du må kanskje ta deg en tur på Statsarkivet i Tr.heim. Det er jo ikke langt for deg...

Re: Ludvik Tiller(Tillerbakk)
