Lucille Nelson, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.
She was born May 27, 1922, in Bangor Township, rural Brooten, Minn., to Odin and Blanche (Wendlund) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church at Brooten by the Rev. A. H. Hoyme. She attended grade school at District 31, rural Brooten, and graduated from Brooten High School in 1940.
On Nov. 15, 1942, she was married to S. C. Nelson in Trinity Lutheran Church at Brooten also by the Rev. Hoyme. They made their home in Brooten where she was very active in community and church activities. In 1969 they moved to Fergus Falls after selling their business and retiring. In 1979 they moved to Alexandria and returned to Fergus Falls in 1993. Mr. Nelson died in 1995. She entered the Pioneer Care Center in April of 2005.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Circle and also Reader?s Club. She enjoyed traveling, fishing trips to Canada, golfing, playing bridge and flower gardening. She loved to decorate and entertain and was much appreciated by her family for her cooking skills. At the age of 63 she took up deer hunting and shot her first deer. She also went antelope hunting in Wyoming. She was a fun loving person who lived life to the fullest.
