Jeg søker etter opplysninger om min kones onkel, Konrad Norman Johansen født 20.03.1888 i Hamarøy. Hans foreldre var Johan Andreas Aronsen f. 24.03.1885 og Henriette Kristine Christoffersdatter f. 01.11.1859 i Hamarøy. Jeg finner at Konrad Johansen reiste fra Trondheim den 09.11.1910 med Aaro til Duluth, Min. Jeg kan ikke finne han i reg. til Ellis Island. En eldre søster av han reiste til USA 24.04.1908 fra Trondheim med Salmo til Lake Mils Iowa. Helmine vet jeg kom til Duluth hvor hun ble gift og tok Hamsund som etternavn.
Familien sier at Konrad ble gift med en som het Minnie til fornavn. Ekteparet fikk flere barn Dette er alt familien vet.

In the 1920 St. Louis county census, City of Duluth, MN I find Conrad Johson and wife, Minnie, both age 30. Conrad immigrated 1910. They have 2 sons, Lester age 3 and Kenneth age 1 year 8 (?) months. Living with them are Conrad's brother in law, Magnus Nergord (?spelling), and sister in law Alma Nergord, and neice, Goldie Nergord.

Jeg er mest interessert i opplysning om når og hvor Conrad døde. Videre hva som er Minnies fødenavn og når og hvor hun ble født evtelt når hun døde. Det er selvfølgelig også fint om vi kan få opplysninger om barn, når født og om noen av dem lever i dag. Kort sagt alt vedrørende familien.

Since Magnus "Nergord" is a brother in law to Conrad in 1920, he should be a brother to Minnie. I wonder what the correct spelling of his last name would be...Nygaard?? or something...so some version of this would be Minnie ( and Alma's) last name. Magnus immigrated in 1913.
Can you find a record of Magnus' immigration? Alma was born in the USA (Minnesota)...I really was wondering if Alma was a sister-in-law to Conrad or actually Magnus' wife...since there is the neice (Conrad's neice, Goldie) living with the family. Do you understand all this???
So I wondered if it was an error in the census saying that Alma was a sister-in-law to Conrad.

Takk skal dere ha. Jeg har funnet en Minni Larsen kom til New York Oct 01. 1912 med Hellig Olav. Det ser ut som om hun kom sammen med sin mor Sara Larsen 58 år. og 2 søstrer, Helga 19 år og Ellen 17 år.
Det er mulig at vi ikke kommer lengre så jej takker alle for god hjelp.

I am not "så flink" at searching Norwegian immigration records...but did you try to find the immigration record of Magnus "Nygård" (misspelled?? as "Nergord" in the 1920 census!!), who immigrated to America in 1913? I guess he was the husband of Alma...and Alma was Minnie's sister. ...hope I have that all correct!!
I looked for the Larsen/Larson family in the 1910 Duluth census...but I use Heritage Quest, and really need to know the father's name, to find Alma and Minnie. So I did not have any luck finding them.

Jeg har prøvd den og kom frem til riktig person.
Dette gjelder Emigrasjon fra Trondheim reisedato 10.09.1913 Magnus Johan Nergaard ugift jernbanearbeider født 1890 Ofoten reisemål Winnipeg Man. linje Stjerne skip Æro bill.bry. i Trondheim formål med reisen arbeid. Reisetillatelse. Till Att. Bodø krigsk. 13/9.13.
Det ser ut som han har reist signel. Det reiser en jernbanearbeider til født i Ofoten 1892. Han heter Sigurd Berhaug. Samme reisemål, Winnipeg Man.
Håper at du får frem dette nå.

Yes...now I have seen the emigration information...
Looks to be the right Magnus Nergaard! So he was an "iron worker" in Norway, and then became a car repair worker for the railroad...so that makes sense!
Is it possible to find him in the bygdebok?
