I searched some in Heritage Quest (I don't have Ancestry.com) for Sigvard and Olivia.
Can you tell me the month that Olivia was born?...it says she was born 1867 in the emigration information you gave.
I found an Olive Johnson as a widow in Chicago in 1900. She immigrated 1886.
But, her oldest child Ella, was born in Norway in 1883 and also immigrated in 1886....so this does not seem to match "your" Olivia??
In the census it says this Olive was born Sept. 1864 (also not a "match")...
Her 2 other children are John, born 1888 in Illinois and Martin, born 1891 in Illinois.

I just looked at the 1900 census...vidunderlig!!
It was so great to see the information just as you had given it, Jane...immigration year, Olivia's month and year of birth!! All except for their choice of last name...that certainly was a surprise...
There must be many slekt to this family still living in the USA.

Born 4 Aug 1895 at Arlington. Son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Edsberg, Parkland. Corporal Edsberg reported at Camp Lewis 3 Oct 1917, and was assigned to the 6th Co., 166th D. B. 361st Inf., 91st Div. He sailed from Hoboken 6 Jul 1918, and arrived at Glasgow, Scotland, 19 Jul. On the 22d he reached La Havre, and on 2 Sep started for the front, going into action 26 Sep. On 29 Sep at Pineville, he was wounded in the right leg and left arm by shrapnel. He was picked up the next day and sent back to a field hospital, and from there back to Evacuation Hospital No. 5. On 4 Oct he was taken to Base Hospital No. 7 at Tours, and left there 8 Dec on a Red Cross train for Brest. On 13 Dec he left Brest on the transport Mongolia, arriving in NY 22 Dec. Six days later he left the New York Central Palce for Camp Merritt, and on 17 Jan 1919 left there for Camp Lewis. Made corporal 11 Feb 1918 at Camp Lewis. Discharged 21 Feb 1919, at Camp Lewis. The shell that wounded Corporal Edsberg killed three soldiers and wounded three others. His brother, Marcus S. Edsberg, was in the coast artillery.[/u]

A Google search a couple of nights ago led me to your genealogy blog thread, which I forwarded to my mother's cousin. He immediately replied that he was elated to have additional information about his family and that, to his knowledge, he was the only grandchild of Sigvart and Olivia [Martenson] Edsberg.

He is the son of Sigurd L. Edsberg, and his name is Robert Leslie Edsberg, born in 1922 in Seattle, Washington. He also reports that his father and all of his father's siblings are buried next to each other in the Marysville Cemetery in Snohomish.

Are you, or any of the other blog respondents, related to the Edsbergs? I would be happy to forward any additional information you may have about his ancestry, or I can put you in touch with him directly.
