Min tippoldefar Johan Christiansen emigrerte til USA ca 1890. Han er født den 23.07.1865 i Vang, Hedmark. Han stavet også ettternavnet sitt "Kristiansen". Jeg er ikke i stand til å finne ham i emigrasjonsprotokoller, og ber av den grunn om assistanse. Mulig oppholdssted ved emigrasjon kan også være Øyer, Gudbrandsdal.

Thank you, Margit for the reply. It is tempting to conclude that this is the person I am looking for. The only thing that puzzles me is the letter "G" in his name. I have no immediate explanation for this, but maybe it is an additional name which he has obtained in the US? The two others buried named Christianson I gather are his children. However, a wife ought also to be buried nearby?

I think this is the family in the 1920 census, it states that the father John was born in Sweden. Other census will need to be checked along with the death record.

Margit Nysetvold Bakke nevnte en John Christianson i 1920 census. Her er trolig samme mann i 1900. Han er født i juli 1865, men han er svensk og hans foreldre er svensk, og de 3 eldste barna hans er født i Sverige.
