Hei Kari,
Here is your Peder's record from the Church book in 1811 it appears (I cannot read the date):
Source information: Hordaland county, Fana, Parish register (official) nr. A 6 (1800-1815), Birth and baptism records 1812, page 56-57.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... x_side=-28
Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1 ... 620028.jpg
Second one on the left page.
Have you checked the Church books for him leaving or marriage??
It appears his Confirmation record is here, he is #4.
Source information: Hordaland county, Fana, Parish register (official) nr. A 7 (1816-1828), Confirmation records 1826, page 266.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-176

Re: Peder Rasmussen fra Fana
Hei Margit

Hei Kari!
If you want me to help you here in the USA, you need to write in English.

Re: Peder Rasmussen fra Fana
Sorry
since you understood my first note, I thought you were comfortable with reading Norwegian....
Here is a summary of what I wrote:
I am very thankful for someone helping me with understanding the handwriting in the church records. I missed him, and I would have done it again if you had not mentioned the #4.
Now we know he was baptisted 18 Aug 1811.
I have not found any marriage notes for him, so I believe he went on his own.
I know nothing of him, since a younger brother of him is my closest relative, but I find Peder very interesting because he probably left Norway in his 20`s and much earlier than any of my other relatives.(normally 1870-1920)
I `ve looked for close relatives to Peder to see if others also left, but so far I`ve not come across any in this part of the family.
Very thankful for all help you can give me

Hei Kari!
Yes, I do understand when someone gives dates and names and is looking for family in the USA, but I do not understand otherwise.
I have checked all the census and records and can think of and I do not find your Peder/Peter in the USA with the information given by you. I would suggest you keep looking for records of him leaving Norway. He may have gone anywhere, not just the USA. Have you checked all the Death Records in the Church Books online? Perhaps he died.

Re: Peder Rasmussen fra Fana
Hi again,
thanks for checking around for me.
So far, I have not found any records of him as dead either...
I have not checked so many sources, other than Digitalarkivet, coz I just stumbled across the info about this sibling`s emigration in a book from the Fana parish as I was looking for more details about my right-lined relatives...
...but since he lived 200 years ago, maybe other relatives that I dont know about today reads my post and solves my mystery..?

Hei Kari!
If the relatives who emigrated to America were related to your Peter, perhaps if you give their names and birthdates and information, they may have been coming to visit him here if he was here.

Re: Peder Rasmussen fra Fana
Sure!
But so far, he is the only one on my grandmother`s side that I had found emigrating...
...and probably very early too...
I think I have to dig closer into his other cousins and reveal more of the family history before I can solve this..
