Hi,

I am helping a woman in America find her Norwegian ancestors. I am looking for a birth record for this person. The family says he is from Setesdal:

Jon Seaverson, born 1847 in Setesdal.

His parents names are probably Syvert Syvertsen and Anne.

About 1877 he married Anne Eriksen Haugen in Minnesota.

In 1880 he was living in Grand Meadow, Mower county, Minnesota. He died 29 Jan 1891 in Thief River Falls, Pennington county, Minnesota, so there are no records for him in America except the 1880 census, which only says he was 32 years old, born in Norway.

I've gone through all baptisms for the Setesdal parishes 1845-49, i.e. Valle, Bygland, Evje, plus the Åseral part of Bjelland.

I can find only one candidate, no. 46 here:

But according to "Vegusdal gards- og ættesoge" p. 543 (read on nb.no), John Syvertsen Vindvand was married to Kristiane Rejersen, Svinør, and moved to Grimstad.

Hi.
I do not think the son of Syvert Syvertsen was called Seaverson.
According to Norwegian tradition, the son got his father firstname + sen / son (son)
I think therefore he was called John Syvertsen.

In Census 1865 there is only one John Syvertsen born 1874. He was born in Waage in Oppland County, but worked as a servant in Hedemark County.

You are also looking for Anne Eriksen Haugen. I think her name is, Anne Eriksdatter (daughter of Erik) and she lives in a place called Haugen.

She was from a place named like Ordan / Odran, Can it be Gran?
This is a shot in the night.

I find Anne Eriksdatter in Census 1865 from Gran in Oppland County
Her fathers name is Erik Larsen and mother Karen Olsdatter
