Below is a representative sample of entries in the IGI (all presumably
patron submissions) for the baptism of a Daniel Henchman who married
Sarah Woodward (i.e., the Daniel Henchman who later immigrated to New
England).

23. Daniel Henchman - International Genealogical Index / BI
Gender: Male Birth: 28 APR 1623 Westminster, London, England
24. Daniel Henchman - International Genealogical Index / BI

27. Daniel Henchman - International Genealogical Index / BI

29. Daniel Henchman - International Genealogical Index / BI

30. Daniel Henchman - International Genealogical Index / BI

A couple of these entries call him son of Richard and Hannah Henchman.

From research on my own Henchman line, I've recently become aware that
the names "Henchman" and "Hinksman," which were considered
interchangeable in this period, have to be searched separately in the
IGI. Accordingly, searching under "Daniel Hinksman," we find among
extracted entries ...

Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster
--Daniel Hinkesman, son of Richard and Hannah, bapt. 28 April 1623

This couple also had a son John at the same church entered under the
name "Hinksman," and two other children (Stephen and Hannah) under the
name "Hinchman," which (oddly) only come up if "Henchman" is searched.

In the extracted records for Saint Peter Pauls Wharf, London, there is
a Richardus Hincksman who married Anna Newberry on 29 June 1622.

Savage's _Genealogical Dictionary_ shows that Daniel of New England
had a son Richard (Savage also mentions Henchman's second marriage to
Mary, daughter of William Poole, who was a daughter of Mrs. Jane
[Greene] Poole in Gary Boyd Roberts' new 2008 edition of RD600).

HENCHMAN, or HINCHMAN, DANIEL, Boston, sch.master 1666, freem. 1672,
ar. co. 1675 perhaps, by w. Sarah had (beside Richard, Hezekiah, and
Nathaniel) Susanna, b. 7 June 1667; and William, 28 July 1669, wh. d.
young; and by w. Mary, d. of William Poole, m. 26 Apr. 1672, had
William, again, 29 Mar. 1673; Jane, 25 May 1674; Daniel 16 June 1677;
and Mary, 1 June 1682; the last two prob. d. young. Having serv. on
the Comtee. for survey of a new planta. now Worcester, a. 1665, he
bec. a propr. and in Philip's war, 1675 and 6, was a capt. of
distinct. and d. at Worcester, 15 Oct. 1685. His wid. Mary, with the
s. Richard and Hezekiah and admin. The est. by inv. of 29 Apr. 1686,
was £1381.13.9

Interesting - I seem to recall reading somewhere that this henchman
may well have been a cousin to joanna hoare widow of charles hoare,
gent., of Gloucester with her sons john and leonard (later president
of harvard college) if i recall joanna was a henchman - but i could be
off by a generation.
