I'll keep this on the list in case others can help.
This is the only Nils Elias Nilsen I can find in the 1900 census.

The combination Nils Elias Nilsen is not too common, but if he was born after 1900, we're out of luck.
The names Nils and Niels were often changed to Nels in America.
But the Remmen farm is in Romsdalen while Bolga(Bolgen is further north unless there are some I can't find?
Maybe those siblings can help you?

There is a place called Bolga/Bolgen in Frei, More/Romsdal, about 60 or 70
km north of Remmen in Romsdalen

today. I lived there 1988-89. Meløy was for a long time in

was born 15 Feb 1873 in Bolgen, Helgeland, Norway. I can't find any
references to Bolgen that seem to fit... anyone with any ideas where
this is?

His parents were Nils Nilsen and Lavina Pedersen. He immigrated from
New York to Fremantle, Western Australia, arriving 26 Sep 1899 aboard
the "Glencairn".

Any ideas about where to start to search for more information about
him (outside of Australia) would be greatly appreciated!
