I need help in finding the parents of MAREN BAKKE b.1879, married EMIL
BJERKE, DORTHEA NILSINE BAKKE b.1882, married MARTIN ERIKSEN, (NOTE:
EMIL BJERKE and MARTIN ERIKSEN were brothers-father: EDVARD ERIKSEN of
Drammen), NILS BAKKE b.1884, married SIGRUN (?), and HANS BAKKE
b.1887, married HELGA (?). All children listed Drammen as their
birthplace when they immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, USA in the early

I agree that this is the best place to start searching, based on the
information that you have. Bakke is a fairly common place name in
Norway, so don't assume that your ancestor comes from Bakke in Vest
Agder, unless you have some additional information. Unencumbered by
fact. I looked up your two mentioned Norway places in the
Digitalarkivet, Drammen and Bakke. Drammen was a farmname in 1900 only
in Østfold, Hedmark and Vestfold. Bakke was a farm name or parish name
in almost every county/fylke in Norway.

Try http://www.dokpro.uio.no/rygh_ng/rygh_felt.html to search for info
about the farm names also. Gardnavn is farm name, Sogn is like a
parish, Fylke is county.

In the Digitalarkivet, try searching for the names you have,
especially the more unusual ones like the forename of DORTHEA NILSINE.
All this assumes that were in Norway in 1900, of course.
