Need help with handwritten document
I'd really appreciate it if someone would be willing to try to read and
translate a handwritten danish document.

I believe it's probably a baptismal record for my maternal grandmother,
Ingeborg Nielsen.

Ingeborg Nielsen.
The text is written in German. I am not able to read all the words (in
particular I have a problem with the last word of the heading). The first
word is Auszug which indicates that the document itself is an excerpt from
something, in this case a baptism list.
Basically it says that Ingeborg Nielsen was born on the 20th of October of
1873, and baptised on the 30th of October the same year. The parents are
Nils Nielsen of Hügumfeld and his wife Ann Margaretha Nielsen ne. Liest (or
Liesl).
I have not been able to interpret the third word on the line below
Ingeborg's name. It is probably related to the social position of her father
Nils Nielsen.
The stamp says "Hygum pastorat" which would be written Hügum in German. That
is the clerical office of Hygum. I read the name of the undersigned to be
Bachmann.
I am pussled by the date of the document. It looks to me as the 14th of
March 1904. Someone with a better eye for the details in the document would
possibly be able to make out the exact wording of the heading. I believe
that could explain about the differences in time.

Re: Need help with handwritten document
I agree with the interpretation that John Morten gives you.
Here is the German text:
Auszug aus dem hiesigen Kirchenbuch
Anno 1873 (1800 und drei und siebzig) den 20. (zwanzig-
sten) October ist geboren und en 30. (dreissigsten) October ej.a.
ist getauft:
Ingeborg Nielsen
Tochter des Hufners auf Hügumfeld Niels Nielsen und dessen Ehefrau Ann
Margretha Nielsen geb. Seest.
zur Beglaubigung dieses Auszuges
Pastorat zu Hügum 14 III 1904
Bachmann
Gebühr 0,90 M
Q 42/o5 a.
Stempel: Hygum Pastorat
This certificate is in German because Soenderjylland, county Haderslev was
still part of Germany. After 1920 we 'came back' to Denmark.
You'll find the original entry in the church book of Sønder Hygum, county
Haderslev 'fødte' 1847-1888 on http://www.arkivalieronline.dk opslag 238
There you find the age of her mother (26 years old) and the name of the
witnesses - and the entry is in Danish!!

Re: Need help with handwritten document
It's an authorised transcript from the church record. I found the
original record (which is in Danish) at http://www.arkivalieronline.dk
and I have placed a copy here:
http://www.bryld.info/downloads/Ingeborg.tif
From the transcript I read:

Wow! Thanks a bunch for all your help! It makes sense that it was in
german, since I knew that parts of the family came from southern
Jutland. I remember a family story about an aunt of my mothers that, as
a young child, would stand on a bridge at the border and taunt the
German guards.
I don't have any experience in trying to read these old handwritten
scripts, plus I know very little danish or german.

Scripsit Art:
You're welcome, and you'd better stick with Inger's reading. Her
understanding of the writing (kurrentschrift) and the German language
is superior to mine. Note that most of the writing in the Danish
church record (the names) are in conventional latin letters.

Hello over there
The document is written in German, and shall try to translate it to you.
First into Danish:
Uddrag
Margrethe Nielsen, født (i) Seest.(I presume in Seest, because it is the
name of a small parish. But it could be a name of a person, although I never
met it)
Som attestation for dette uddrag
Hygum pastorat 14/12 1904
Gebyr 1,90 M(ark)
Now in English as far as I can do it.
Extract
from the local church book.
Anno 1873 ( 1800 and seventy three) on the 20. (twentieth) of October is
born and on the 30. (thirtieth) same year baptized
Ingeborg Nielsen
the daughter of small-holder in Hygum Mark and his wife Ane Margrethe
Nielsen, born (in) Seest. (near to Kolding)
As attestation for the extract
Hygum parish.
( a "mark", Hygum Mark, means a field in Danish, but it is used as a name
of a place.)
A "Mark" in German is the German coin until the Euro was introduced a few
years ago.
Hoping you can use this I send my best greetings.
