FAQ(s)?

I have a couple of simple questions about Dell computers
and Wimdows XP and don't want to go to the bother of
having to go to Dell and M$ for answers. Are there
FAQs available for either or both these products that
I could consult?

In case anyone in this group knows the answers and cares
to answer:

1. Dell computer: How does one tell the machine to go
ahead and start when power is applied? I find it a
nuisance to have to separately push the start button
on the computer when I turn on the power strip to
which all components are connected.

2. Using EDIT from the command line window, I once by
accident was holding the left mouse button and moved
the pointer horizontally over the menu bar. This
caused XP to think I wanted to copy the menu headings
so it highlighted them for copying. Ever since the
menus have been disabled and XP remembers this
every time EDIT is started again. How does one clear
this state?
