I'm a long term user of Legacy, but recently was contacted by a UK
relative with the offer of exchanging some of our surnames.
This user I now discover uses Family Tree Maker version 11, and by her
own admission doesn't rate herself as a strong computer user, nor is
she totally familar with FTM.
As I explained, in Legacy, I would just tag the group of people of
interest, then export them as a Gedcom file. But not having FTM handy,
and not knowing anyone that uses it, I'm finding it hard to transpose
the same action in FTM.
Could somebody help explain how to do this, so I could forward on the
same answer please?
Also does FTM export a Gedcom in the 5.5 file format?
Another option I guess would be a Family Group report on each family,
but does FTM offer this option, and can it be exported as a PDF file?
Cheers and Thanks

Create a blank file.
Merge the main file selecting the family lines you want.
Select "Copy/Export" from the file menue and then select Gedcom and
click on save then make sure 5.5 is selected.

THanks Bob,
I'll pass it on. So the Family Group sheet PDF option isn't on offer
in FTM then?

You could get them to install a PDF printer driver, e.g. the free
PDFCreator. They could then print any report as a PDF.

I think it is an option on newer versions but I still use version 11
because I prefer the layout.
