I have downloaded a PDA genealogy program "ppb4" it is supposed to let you
put data into your Pocket PC and send it to a gedcom.
I am perplexed as to what to do next.
I know I need to copy it to my PDA but where to from there? the only file
in the zip file is ppb4.pc. I cant see how to install it.
other than that can someone recommend a PDA where I can input data and send
it in a format to append to my genealogy program. I would like shareware
first as I hate paying for stuff I cant try out first.

Re: PDA help
According to the programmers web page you need addtional software.
See http://members.tripod.com/pbhanney/pocket_pedigree.html and it says you
must down load Pocket C 128 first.
The software is from 1998.

I assume that you want a programme rather than a new PDA? I'm using an Hp
Ipact with Windows Mobile and, on the suggestion of my usual genealogy
software supplier (Trevor Rix at TWR) got a programme called Pocket
Genealogist which I like a lot. To quote their web site it has:
"Direct 2-way synchronizations with Legacy Family Tree V5 databases. No
GEDCOM necessary.
Direct import of data from Ancestral Quest, Genbox, The Master
Genealogist, and RootsMagic"
I use FTM on my pc, which requires an add-on I haven't bothered to instal as
I have no problem working with gedcoms (the PDA database is for reference, I
get confused if I change more than 1 database, so only change the pc at
home).

They do a 30 day trial period before you have to pay. In fact, if you buy
software from a PDA software distributer like Handango, virtually everything
they offer has a demo version or a trial period.
