Lost phpgedview password

Legg inn av Ashish » 24. februar 2005 kl. 5.53

Hi, I just installed phpgedview software and tried to login as admin,
but I seems to have lost it. It doesn't work. I have created a family
tree with one member as admin. How do I recover or change the password?
Also I installed this on WinXP, which doesn't have SMTP so email option
won't work.

Have you considered contacting the developers at SourceForge?

The other alternative is to check whether the app has automatically
created a gedcom for the data you've entered -- it does on UNIX systems.
If so, then all you have to do is to copy the gedcom file to a safe place
and reinstall the application. Before doing that, though, I'd look at the
file "authenticate.php" in the index subdirectory of your phpGedView
installation. That contains all the usernames and passwords known to the
application. Make a backup copy of the file, then delete the password for
the username that's giving you trouble. Then try logging in as that user
without a password. If it works, go into admin mode, and update the user
information to add a new password.

Look in config.php.

XP will have Outlook Express and this is a pop3 (input) SMTP (Output)

email client.
