Anyone else as miffed over the web site changes? The layout makes it more
difficult to find stuff and where did the trees go? When subscription ends,
it will be adios!

A recent UK colour supplement had a full page advert for

I've previously been put off joining, even the trial offer, as I've
read elsewhere that is doesn't have a lot for Scottish research and if
that was confirmed that there could be problems in ending the trial.
However the advert states "the only site to offer the complete set of
UK censuses from 1841 to 1901"
Is this accurate and confirmation that it includes the Scottish census
records?

I would say that is the old problem of UK just meaning England and Wales
Recently They did add 1841 census for Scotland - no images but the data
is there as a transcription - click a person to get their occupation
I would suggest visit
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/
and click Scotland for list of databases

Well we'll see what the Advertising Standards Authority have to say

Funny how it's nearly always nameless people who have the "courage" to

why that is.

Re: Ancestry.com
The facts are easily checked - only the 1841 Scottish census is there.
The point made, very clearly, was that ancestry.com claimed in a recent
newspaper advertisement that they offered a complete set of UK censuses.
The facts are that they have complete sets for England and Wales and just
one census for Scotland.
As the UK includes Scotland and Northern Ireland in addition to Englan and
Wales, the assertion that they have complete sets for the UK is clearly
false.
The issue is that they advertised a service that they don't offer. This is
illegal.
The company deserves a little bashing for this misrepresentation. The
people discussing it most certainly do not.

Bashing rip-off companies should be everyone's job. You should try it,
you will certainly earn respect from people when you do.
