AJAX for Family Trees via the Web

Legg inn av Gjest » 30. oktober 2005 kl. 21.40

Has anyone tried using AJAX as a means of viewing large family trees on
the web? It seems to me that one ought to be able to write a viewer
that would download bits of family tree closely connected with the
piece currently being viewed as a background process, so that in most
circumstances if the user panned to another piece of the tree or
clicked a link, the new piece of tree that he wanted to view would
already have been downloaded and could be displayed with little or no
delay. This, it seems to me, would provide a much more usable user
interface to a family tree with many thousands of individuals.

Does anything tlike this exist?

Thanks - Rowan

Ya know. I've been thinking about ajax trees for genealogy. Would be
interesting to do with RubyOnRails and REST.
