Death or Burial Records

Legg inn av gj03752 » 16. mai 2017 kl. 15.06

I am seeking some information about death records in Norway.

In Australia civil registration began in the 1850's.
Any person can access death records that are older than 30 years old.
Most of these are available through government websites in searchable databases.

Does any such death record search exist for Norwegian deaths?

I have used the 'gravminner' database on this website and also found some cemeteries have searchable databases for burials within.
I have also seen that some kirkeboker exist for various parishes but not for newer records and these are searchable at 'digitalarkivet'.

Is there any places to search details of deaths/burials after 1950?

What are the restrictions on Norwegian records and what is available after 1950?

Thank you.
Chris.

Release dates for the scanned church books. https://arkivverket.no/eng/content/view/full/17726

Othervise there might be several local databases in addition to DIS gravminner, but not any common for the whole country.

However, if you know the persons name and the area where he/she died, somebody here might be able to detect it.

With regards
Paul
