Viken from Tromso

Legg inn av dn09189 » 16. mars 2008 kl. 22.24

An distant relative married a descendant of Emma Viken (name from wedding). She is said to have married in 1909 in Alberta but that her birthdate was 21 Jul 1886 and that she came from Tromsø. I have not been able to find a match for this information in the 1901 census or the baptisms of Tromsø.
Any suggestions? I've asked for any other information but nothing much is know about her except what was stated above.
The census of 1911 says she immigrated to Alberta, Canada in 1905 but not sure if she went directly there or came up from the States.
Viken is a fairly common name, it seems, from Norway so seaching for last name or gardsnavn would take a long process.
Couldn't find a Viken (Wiken) in the 1900 census of Tromso but are there places around Tromso that might have a Viken farm/place?
Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

It must be this girl, baptized in Bardu in 1886: Link

Emma's parents were not married. Here Emma is in the 1900-census on the Viken søndre farm together with her mother Sigrid Kristine Reinholdtsdatter: Link

Here Sigrid is with her parents in the 1865-census: Link

Viken is in the community of Bardu, Troms. It lies about 6-7 kilometers south-east of Setermoen.

Emma's christening record states that her father Hans Tollefsen is from the Ostrø farm in the Tolgen parish (county of Hedmark). Here is Hans Tollefsen, born 17 Jan 1863 (no 3 in 1863): Link

His parents are Tollef Olsen and wife Ingebor Johanne Pouline Hansdatter. They live at the farm Os-Trøen in the community of Tolga (Tolgen) in Hedmark. Here is the family in the 1865-census: Link

Wow, I would never have found all this data. The relatives that are outlaws! will be very happy when I pass this on. Thank you so much.
David
By the way is there a bygdebok for either area? That usually has important data if they can be found on the farm. Will have to do more research in that area later. Have to finish my reports, first. Work always seems to get in the way!!! :?

Hello Odd Villy,
Thank you for all the information. I was wondering if you could translate this for me:
Anmeldt af kirkesanger Jon Strømsmo
It is in the last column of the baptism of Emma!
