Gurine Jørgine Jørgensdatter: f.1.7.1889, døpt som uekte barn, 21.7.1889 (Børsa/Geitastrand 1879-1904)
• Far: Sagarbeider, ugift Jørgen Ingebrigtsen Jønsberg, Løten prestegjeld, nu på Orkedalen.
• Mor: Husmannsdatter, ugift Gunhild Iversdatter Aas (f.1860)
• Begges andre leiermål med hinanden.

Vi finner henne ved FT Orkdal 1900 med bostede Hofsøren
Bor sammen med sin mor og 2 brødre. Mor Gunhild (f.1860) er ugift og bruker etternavn Almlid som også var navn på 2 av fadderne når Gurine blev døpt.

Iver Martin: f.9.7.1892, døpt som uekte barn 28.8.1892 (Børsa i Børsa 1867-1915) Far er Martin Gabrielsen (f.1860) fra Bjugn (Gjølga) Det er Gunhilds 3 leiermål og hans andre.

Anton: f.1.12.1897, døpt som uekte barn 16.1.1898 (Orkdal 1894-1913) Barnets far er denne gang Andreas Arntsen Rømmesmo fra Orkanger (f.1865) Det er Gunhilds 4 leiermål, og hun har da 4 barn med 3 forskjellige fedre, så hun var vel en litt uvanlig karakter på den tid.

Gurine konfirmert 9.10.1904 (Orkdal 1894-1913) bosted Nærviksøra.

Her finner jeg ikke mere om Gurine som da er halvsøster av min mor.

Så er spørsmålet om noen har mere kjennskap om disse enn hva jeg har klart å finne.

Here it says Iver, age 17, (and his mother Gunhilda) are going to Minneapolis Minnesota to his father, Andreas Rommesmo.

I did not search for Gurine. (but I guess the whole family went together??)

He is going to his son Bernard in Minneapolis (May 7, 1909).
His wife Gunhild is still in Orkedal at this time.

Hele familien reiste til usa.

Antar at Gunhild blev gift med Andreas Arntsen Rømmesmo, for under Emigranter fra Trondheim 1867-1930 finner vi følgende personer registrert i 1909:

21.4.1909 Andreas Arntsen Rømmesmo, f. 1864,med SS Tasso til Minneapolis
28.7.1909 Gunhild Rømmesmo, f.1860,samme reisemål (til sin mand)
28.7.1909 Gurine Jørgine Rømmesmo f.1889, samme reisemål (følger moderen)

Andreas is not going to his son Bernhard, since Bernhard is Gunhilds oldes son. He left for USA in 1905. His father is Jørgen Jønsberg. However, almost correct.

Gurine and the rest of the family entered the USA from Canada...through Michigan with reisemaal (destination) Minneapolis, Minnesota.
You have to see this on the hand written image (at the right in the link).

Astrid, did you mean Gurine stayed in Michigan?

I wonder when Jørgen died?

Andreas is calling Bernhard his son in the record(in the hand written image)...but I understand he is not his "natural" father, and Jørgen is Bernhard's natural father.

I looked for "Rommesmo" in the USA census records...the family must have changed their name "over here"??

Hvis du Googler Rommesmo finner du flere med navnet i dag i North Dakota. Kanskje du kunne spørre en av dem om de vet noe? Jeg vet ikke om Gurine ble i Michigan, men hun ble registrert der.

Thank you for telling me when your grandfather died, Svein Erik.

I found one family that lived in North Dakota, using the last name Rommesmo:
Christ (f.1858) Rommesmo..immigrated 1887 married to Marie
2 children Ingwald (b. 1901 in ND) and Gladys (f. 1902 in ND)

In 1920 Christ Rommesmo and family is in Oregon, Reedville (Christ is age 62, Marie 42..with their 2 children.
But this must be a different family????

There is also an Ole Rommesmo who lived in Cass county, ND..he was naturalized 1935
Again...I do not see any names that "fit" Gurine's family.

I wonder if Bernhard used Jorgenson (or something similar) for his last name...
I see he was called Johan Bernard Jonsberg in 1905 when he immigrated...he was going to a friend Ludwig A. Lee in Minneapolis.

Difficult to know what family name they used in USA.
Rommesmo looks to be name they coudl use, but Jørgensen is more difficult to translate ino an american version. Gurines short name could be Guri ?

Having the same problem when looking for an half broder of Johan Bernhard.

Jørgens son Ingebrigt born 29.4.1894, as I have been told left for USA, but never found.
As a son of Jørgen Engebretsen Jønsberg, we have a number of alternatives, and I suppose that he was registrered as Ingebrigt Jønsbeg at the Norwegisn emigration authorities.

I know you have not give this person's name...but wondering if we can find a connection.
Johan Rommesmo was born Aug 24, 1902 in Norway..he died April 7, 1999 (age 97) in North Dakota.
In 1951 he traveled to Norway (found that at Family search), and returned to USA.

Do you know who he is?

The other fellow I found was Ole Rommesmo (b. May 11, 1904 in Norway), died Dec 24, 1990 in Cass county, ND.
He is in the 1940 Fargo, Cass county, ND census (age 35) married to Violet (age 37..she was born in ND).
There is an obituary for him in a ND newspaper...I have only seen that there IS an obit...I have not read it...

Rommesmo is unusual (for us)...so hoping I can find some link with these people and your family.

I do not know much about the Rømmesmo family.
May be support form some DIS person living in Orkdal/Orkanger today could give som additional information.
I do not think the Rømmesmo is a farm today, even if there is a street in Orkanger named Rømmesmo. And I think there is an local area called Rømmesmoen
Ole and Johan are brothers , see cencus 1910

Just a quick note to say we found Gurine.
The info was from Myheritage...but I am not putting in the link because it lists living people..I am going by the rules from DIS to not list living people.

Gurine is called "Gina" in the USA..married Nils/Nels Warner (also called Warner) Sundberg (Swedish).
They lived in Minneapolis, Hennepin county, MN and had one son Roy W. b. July 16, 1917 d. July 24, 1987.
Gina Sundberg is in SSDI b. July 1 1889 d. Nov 10, 1965 in Hennepin county, MN.

1930 Hennepin county, MN
Warner N. Sundberg age 39 Carpenter
"Gana" wife age 40
Roy son age 12

Hei. Her var det mange spørsmål og svar vedrørende min gameltante. Gunhild var søster til min bestefar Gabriel Ivarson Hukkelås. Vi var og besøkte familien i Minnesota i 1995, hvor vi besøkte Iver Mohn. Mohn var navnet familien tok i USA (forkortet for Rømmesmoen) Jeg har en god del om slekten bakover i tid, også mange av Gunhilds etterkommere i USA (En av barnebarna hennes, Roy. fikk 10 barn) Jeg vil ikke legge ut så mye her. You ask about Johan Rommesmo (in our language he wrote Johan Røhmesmo.) He was ceveral years in Amerika, but came home to Orkanger. I remember him well, we called him "Johan amerikaner". He lived in a small house by the river Orkla, not far from my home. I belive he died in Orkanger 20.04.1999.

His brother Ole Røhmesmo was married to my fathers cusin, Kirsten Røhmesmo (Ole and Kirsten were also cusins.) Kirsten was born in 1930 in Orkanger, she was a lot younger than him. They have a son Ole jr. I think Kirsten and Ole jr. live in Fargo ND.

Røhmesmo is a small area in Orkanger. I grew up there, and its just called Moan.
