Brønnil Olsdatter

Hei alle,

I'm looking for a little help in determining which Brønnil Olsdatter married Johannes Jonsen on 19 October 1808.
Their marriage record can be found here:

https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/16147/50179/6

It shows that Johannes Jonsen was living at Vorgbugden and Brønnil was living at Leichnaessen.

There are 2 Brønnil Olsdatters born in Hemne during this time period.
One was born about 1782 to Ole Larsen and Gunild Jonsdatter of Hafsmoe.

The other was born about 1784 to Ole Knudsen and Giertrue Svendsdatter of Røstvold.

I was pretty sure that the one born in Hafsmoe was the correct one, but I'm not confident this is the right one after looking at the names and places of the witnesses to her children's baptisms.

Is there a sure way to identify the correct Brønnil?

Regards.
Jay Hagfeldt

Hei.
in census 1801 is this Brønil: https://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/f ... 8435002116

I see that Sivert Torresen is a witness of marriage, and he lives in the same farm (Hevnschiellen) on a smaller farm. :

That's a good sign

The best way is normally to use e.g. witnesses at baptisms as you already mentioned.
Have you checked the children of the siblings as well?

Apart from that it's a bit more down to luck. Are there e.g. any siblings without children mentioned in the probate records?

Takk Steinar og Håvard,

I took a closer look at the 1801 census and saw that Brønnil Olsdatter, daughter of Ole Larsen and Gunil Jonsdatter was living on the leichnæsset farm, which looks to be a smaller part of the Hevnschiellen farm. The marriage record lists Brønnil's residence as leichnæsset. So I think I have the right person now.
The digitized 1801 census lists the smaller farm's names in the 'Notes' field, when you are focusing on a particular person. I didn't notice that before.

Always learning something new.

I know the probate records are listed on DigitalArkivet, but I've never used them. I'll have to spend some time to become familiar with that aspect of genealogy.

Once again, thank you very much.

Jay
