Baeverfjord Family

Hi

I'm doing some family tree research.

I'm looking for information regarding the parents of Ole (Ola) Toreson Baeverfjord. I know that he was married to Sigrid Pedersdatter Bolme. He was Born in 1865 and died in 1963. Sigrid was born in 1871 and died in 1961. He lived on a farm called Haffel (sp?).

Would greatly appreciate any information you regarding these two relatives. I have all the information on their descendants but have hit a wall going back any further.

Hello.

I found some of this family in some Bygdebøker (Parishbooks).
Ole was born in Åsskard (Bøfjorden) as 3rd son of Tore Olsen Bæverfjord born 1823 died 1900 and his wife Gjørond Olsdatter Skjølsvoll from Rindal born 1832 died1921.
Tore and Gjørond had 5 children.
In Åsskard bygdebok page 369 it says that Ola ,born 1865 ,married 1892 to Sigrid Pedersdatter Sæterbø.
They came in 1918 to Haffel in Tingvoll. it is also listed Ole and Sigrid`s 12 children.
Sigrid Pedersdatter was a daughter of Peder Pedersen Bolme and Mali Larsdatter Bolme. Peder was born 1844 at Sverkeli in Rindal ,and Mali born 1847 ,came from Rinnsagja at Bolme in Rindal. Mali died 1883. Further the bygdebok says that Peder went to US ,and that he died after getting a tree falling over him. Sigrid also had 4 siblings.

Thanks again for that information. I put in the extra relatives but am a bit confused by the lastname of Sigrid I thought it was Bolme but apparently it might not be. I've attached what have if you have a minute to take a look.

I think Bolme is the right name for Sigrid. They must have used it in US. In the bygdebok Sigrid`s surname is written Sæterbø ,but that is just because she was from Sæterbø and the parents lived there. In Norway it was common back then to take the surname after where they lived.

and

Peder Pederson Bolme 1844 – 1882
Mali Larsdotter Bolme 1847 – 1883

They bought and later lost a farm called Austigard

Well....Here is some more info on these 4...
Peder Pedersen Bolme bought Austigard Sæterbø from the former farmer at Austigard in 1879 ,but had been there since abt 1875.
I found some info on the family at disnorge....
Peder`s parents

Peder Johannessen Holte b 1802 in Rindal and wife
Sigrid Olsdatter Grytbakk born in Rindal 1805.

and grandparents

Johannes Pedersen Holte born 1764 in Rindal and wife
Gjertrud Fredriksdatter Øyen born in Rindal 1779.
Ole Sverkesen Grytbakk born in Rindal 1753 died there 1833 and wife
Johanne Larsdatter Rindalsholt ,also from Rindal.

Ole Sverkesen was the son of Sverke Olsen Grytbakk 1722-1790 and wife Guro Hallvardsdatter Tørset both from and lived in Rindal.
Sverke Olsen was a son of Ole Einarsen Grytbakk born Rindal 1689 and wife Mali Sverkesdatter Tørset born abt 1690 in Rindal.
Ole Einarsen Grytbakk was the son of Einar Trondsen Grytbakk in Rindal.

Now to Peder Pedersen Bolme`s wife Mali Larsdatter Bolme.

2 Lars Nilsen Bjørnstad ,born in Rindal 1812 died there 1882 married 1842 to
3 Guri Brynjulvsdatter Trønsdal from Rindal born 1814. When her husband died she
emigrated to US with 2 children and 2 of her grandchildren.

Mali`s grandparents:

4 Nils Olsen Bjørnstad 1763-1842 married in Rindal 1792 to
5 Ingeborg Pedersdatter Pedersli 1770-1831
6 Brynjulv Einarsen Trønsdal ,born in Rindal 1765 ,married 1796 to
7 Brit Olsdatter Håkensli born in Rindal 1777.

Now over to Bæverfjords.....
1 Tore Olsen Bæverfjord`s parents was

2 Ole Toresen Bævre from Surnadal ,born there 1774 married in 1818 to
3 Ragnhild Andersdatter Bæverfjord born 1792.

and grandparents

4 Tore Olsen Bævre born in Surnadal 1741 died there 1803 married 1772 to
5 Ragnhild Pedersdatter Sylte from Surnadal who died there 1818.
6 Anders Jonsen Bø from Åsskard and died there 1815 ,married abt 1782 to
7 Ingeborg Johansdatter Husby ,born 1751 ,from Todalen (Stangvik) and died 1826.
Ingeborg was formerly married to Jon Fredriksen Grønnes who died at Bæverfjord 1781.

1 Then at last.....Gjørond Olsdatter Skjølsvoll from Rindal`s parents

2 Ole Ingebrigtsen Skjølsvold born Rindal 1801 died there 1872 ,married 1829 to
3 Eli Arntsdatter Børset from Rindal ,born 1805 died there 1883. Ole was formerly married
in 1827 to Ingeborg Jonsdatter Skjermo from Surnadal ,born 1807 died abt 1828.

and grandparents

4 Ingebrigt Olsen Skjølsvold 1768-1844 ,married 1800 to
5 Gjørond Olsdatter Børset from Rindal born 1778. They lived at Skjølsvold in Rindal.
6 Arnt Olsen Børset in rindal ,born 1781 died 1813 ,married 1803 to
7 Gjertrud Pedersdatter Almberg from Rindal ,born 1777 died 1831. Gjertrud was remarried
after Arnt`s death to Peder Gudmundsen Fugelsøy from Surnadal ,born 1781.

Hopefully now ,you will have all the greatgreatgrandparents of Ole and Sigrid Bæverfjord`s children!. Hope this helps.

Sorry to bother you again. Quick question.
In my searches I've seen a couple of lines of Baeverfjord family names. We always thought it was a family name but it seems like it might have been a farm or a place name right? If that's the case some of the Baeverfjord's listed in the genealogy sites might not be blood relatives right?

Yes ,it is a farm in Åsskard. According to Wikipedia it is a village located innermost in the Hamnesfjord in Surnadal. Bæverfjord consists of several ,let`s call it subfarms ,and the people there seems often to have used the Bæverfjord surname. People in Norway in those times took the name after where they lived.

It seems to be abt 350 people surnamed Bævefjord in Norway and over 300 of them are in Møre and Romsdal County. (Where also Surnadal ,Åsskard and Rindal is located).
But since Bæverfjord has many "subfarms" and the people there use Bæverfjord as surname....then all of them would not be related to each other.
As far I can see it is only Åsskard/Surnadal that has a Bæverfjord/Bøverfjord farm.
