1874 Marriage

I am looking for the 1874 marriage of Johannes Halvorsen and Marta Andersdtr.

I am not sure that it was in Leikanger, but, it appears that that is where there first child was born.

I found the date of 1874 from the birth record of their second child, who was born in Sogndal.

Unfortunately, I could not find the marriage record in either set of church books. Below is a writeup of my search.

John O. Quam utvandra til Amerika i 1885 og gifte seg i Stoughton,Wis 7.11.1895 med Anna Johannesdotter Bøthun frå Bøtun i Leikanger, i Amerika kjend som Anna Bothun., Ho var dotter av strandsitjar Johannes Halvorson på Bøtun, opphavleg frå Berget , Lærdalsøyri i Lærdal, og kona Martha Andersdotter frå Fimreite i Sogndal og F. på Fimreite i Sogndal 26.11.1876

In Leikanger bygdebok, page 515, it lists the following family under Bøtun:

g. m. Marta Andersdtr., Sogndal 1853-1936

b. Andreas 1879- Bøtun 704
c. Mari 1881- utv. Am. 1904

The Fimreite farm was not found in Sogndal bygdebøker at the NAGC&NL.

Anna’s birth was found in the Sogndal Klokkerbok, 1868-1883, https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/11662/90396/46
Her parents were listed as having married in 1874.

The marriage record was not found in the Sogndal church book nor in the Leikanger church book.

Also not found was the Berget farm in Lærdal, including in Lærdal Bygdebok IV, Heim og Ætt. Hauge Sokn. Lærdalsøyri –Mjelde –Øye-Stødno.

1865 censuses for all of Sogn og Fjordane were checked for Johannes Halvorsen f 1845 and Marta Andersdtr, f 1853. There’s two possible matches for Johannes, with both as servant boys, one in Ladvik and one in Lyster. There were several good matches for Marta, with variations of spelling.

According to FamilySearch Johannes Halvorsen and Martha Andersdatter were married January 9th 1874 in Lærdal, Sogn og Fjordane.

Johannes was born August 10th 1846 in Lærdal to parents Halvor Knudsen and Mari Pedersdatter.
