Hi,
I am trying to discover who parents of Elen Sophie Jensdatter born ca 1793 were. Is there a marriage record out there that mentions her father's name at all and also Elen's place of residence at that time? Arve Gundersen and Elen Sophie Jensdatter married 18 Oct 1818 in Krageroen, Glemmen. Their 4 children were all born at Krogeroen -> Gunder on 19 dec 1818, Maren on 12 nov 1820, Gunhild Maria on 9 sep 1822 and Jacobine on 2 oct 1824. Searching the 1801 census there is only 1 possibility going by Elen's age in the 1865 census (estimated birth year 1893) as parents Jens Knudsen and Maria Gundersdatter with daughter Elen Jensdatter. There is however a family search entry for an Elen Sophie Jensdatter born to Jens NN and Johanne Olsdatter. Have been unable to locate a Johanne Olsdatter with a daughter named anything like Ellen, Elen, Eli, Helene Jensdatter in 1801 Census.
Any help would be fabulous.

You have the right Ellen with parents; Jens Knutsen and Maria Gundersdatter. It also about Arves acknowledged in something called Engelsviken slekt (Generations), but it is not digitized. Also in a family book called; Hans Nielsen Hauge and his family, that not are digitized. He was a famous reformer in Norway
I have Ellen in my data file when one of her descendants is the wife of my friend and Arve I'm related to. His grandfather Hans Guttormsen Evenrød with his wife Margrethe Sophie Guttormsdatter are my ancestors too.

Hi, Thankyou for all that information. I have tried to pm you but I don't know if it is working. I would love as much information as you are willing to share please!! I descend from Arve Gundersen and Elen Sophie Jensdatter's daughter Maren who married Martin Christian Jacobsen Myre. Their son Jacob Martinsen arrived in New Zealand aged 18.
He was a crewman of a ship and jumped ship in Lyttleton, Christchurch. Because he didn't want to get caught he swapped his name around to Martin Jacobsen, however was caught anyway, so changed name back to Jacob Martinsen.
He was naturalised in Norsewood on 18 May, 1886, and was working as a mill hand at the time.
Jacob began the first sawmill and flourmill industries at Norsewood in 1888.
